Paradigm shifting work regarding risk for psychosis via @camhnews in @JAMAPsych Nearly 75% of youth who present with a first episode of psychosis have previously presented for mental health care. Psychosis prevention may happen thru effective treatment of antecedent conditions.
Very excited about this crucial first step toward ensuring every young Canadian (and their family) can receive high quality, comprehensive, early psychosis care. Time for us to pay attention to severe mental illness, and give everyone the chance for hope and recovery.
"...while those with developmental disabilities had the highest level of severe food insecurity." It is hard to focus on improving health care when ppl w developmental disabilities can't pay for the basic things they need.
“The status quo of drug consumption sites is not working" Deputy Premier Jones said. Here's the "not working" national CTS data from 2017-2024:
-4.6 million visits
-414,194 unique people
-55,693 non-fatal overdoses
-470,076 referrals for more care
-0 on-site deaths
Grateful for this @CIHR_IRSC Award to study genomic/pharmacogenomic factors contributing risk for difficult-to-treat (or treatment-resistant) major depressive disorder (MDD).
Study participants @CAMHnews with MDD will obtain evidence-based, state-of-the-art pharmacogenetic testing to rule out drug metabolism 'abnormalities' as they are followed up in a measurement-based care program.
This elaborated strategy will provide the best possible care and advance the transition into a new era of #PrecisionMedicine for individuals affected with MDD.
Congratulations to the @camhnews scientists successful on this @CIHR_IRSC round. From PET imaging in autism to psilocybin to pharmacogenetics in depression to addictions treatment to housing support for serious mental illness.
Huge congrats to @RuthARoss11 on the thoroughly deserved Mechoulam Lifetime Achievement Award from @ICRS_Society#ICRS2024! A testament of her humility and achievements, she started her talk with a #FailureCV!
#PrideMonth is not only a time to celebrate 2SLGBTQ+ communities, but a call for more equitable policies. Too many 2SLGBTQ+ people experience homelessness. This blog by @maurienejean and @rishika_w proposes solutions. #healthequity https://t.co/amC15YdDyo

Incredibly important discovery in @NatureComms led by Neil Vasdev of @camhnews, reporting on synthesis of a new radioligand that binds non-AD tau in the brain. Huge promise for early diagnosis of CTE, and prevention of downstream consequences.
