@Avery69933273 I have not done a ton personally. The most common I’ve seen in the schools are speech to text for struggling writers, text to speech for struggling readers, and sound boards for nonverbal students. I am looking forward to researching some more!
Thinking about the connection between tech and special education I keep thinking about assistive technology. The benefits it can have for our students with things like speech to text, sound board, and even pencil grips. #ed109#NOT
@EdelmanAnnie I do enjoy when students are able to use tech such as audio books when they struggle to read at the same rate as their peers. I prefer this tech in upper elementary when chapter books are prevalent and required.
@BuellCelia I like this piece here as I would have to agree. Often when introducing tech, especially if it’s being used to help in an area of disability, students aren’t always properly taught how to use it. Students need to be shown and taught and need continued support during this process
@KaliMoran14 This was a very interesting article, thanks for sharing! I feel like this article ties some to the book I’m reading, Alone Together. The expectations we have for technology are having a significant impact on the expectations we have for one another and how we interact. #ed109
@Ms_Millar_ I read this article as well. I often found myself getting hung up on the fact they were asking if computer science impacted society. I think the question should be why as opposed to if. As to the question you posed I feel that they interchangeably affect one another. #ed109
https://t.co/JyCVExnu07 I really enjoyed reading through this article. I found it interesting there was some questioning on if computer science should play a role in society. I think the question shouldn’t be if but WHY does it? #ed109
@danielpfinney I have anxiety disorder as well. Social media plays a huge factor in this. Especially when using it before bed. My therapist always suggests taking a break from social media and I am strongly considering giving it up for a bit. #ed109#NOT
@Ms_Millar_ I use blue light glasses as well. It was surprising to me how much more I could work once getting them. I was often getting headaches especially this last year with so much of school being online. These are a great technology!
A benefit to cell phones and social media is how easy it is for us to connect with one another. The downsides include, always chasing after a like, trying to live up to other’s expectations, anxiety is increased, and we aren’t as present with those around us. #ed109#NOT
In the book, Alone Together, the author discusses the fact that we are now expecting more out of technology than we are from one another. #NOT#ed109#AloneTogether
Cell phone use has boomed since I was a child. Not only just the use but the abilities that come with having a phone. But, are we relying to much on our technology and less from others? #NOT#ed109
When looking at assessment from the students eyes we have to think about how we can set students up for success and how we can help turn failure into success. Can we do this simultaneously? How do we make sure we are always conscious of this? #ed109
I found the information from the Willingham article to be very interesting. Specifically when looking at multitasking and how introverts are more negatively affected by background noise/music. #ed109#CLT
How do we shift the students enthusiasm from the new tech being introduced in class to the actual use of the content? It’s great they’re excited about learning but how do we get that channeled to the actual content being taught. #ed109
Being tech literate means that you are familiar and comfortable with using different digital technology. This goes beyond just using the computer. Being able to look at the different ways tech influences our schools, lives, and society in general. #ed109
