@birblawl could not be more correct in his diagnosis or clear in his prescriptions - this is a must read for lawyers (and all activists) on the left. Let’s get to work

Mark this as my official endorsement of @DA_LarryKrasner I wrote this after I heard the DA debate last week & Vega said he would collaborate with ICE again if elected. A candidate’s race, ethnicity or slogans are not enough to know whether they are on our side. #KrasnerforDA
Today, @philadao released an incredibly important report about the success of our policy to reduce the burdens of community supervision (probation and parole). Rarely is a policy so strikingly successful. #CriminalJusticeReform

Getting started now with our mc @Orourke4Philly
This is a great thread on the ways in which a change in policy is not the same thing as a change in practice.
When discretion is left up to lower-level officers, it often means that things stay largely the same, no matter what HQ is messaging. Getting policies to stick is hard.
Biden's ICE supposedly changed its priorities for deportation, with only recent arrivals, national security threats, and those convicted of aggravated felonies prioritized for removal. (https://t.co/UZ97y1J4nf)
So why is Mario Mateo of NJ being deported? A thread: 1/
@SusieHuf@kamuleosaurus No, the existing memo does not stop new arrests or require release, which could be pretty problematic - sitting in jail for 100 days waiting to be deported is not particularly helpful. But DHS is supposed to release more guidance by 2/1, so we’ll see!
