A crazy idea would be a mandate that federal funding for universities can only happen when/if the ideological balance of its professors are within +/- 20%.
Any institutions that opts out/takes zero funding from the federal government (ie from taxpayers) can still do whatever they want.
Assuming neither side is more wrong nor right, the debate and ultimate quality of students coming from schools with more ideological balance would be meaningfully better I suspect.
@jclatorre Been enjoying your recent blogs! I think you downplay the human aspect of medicine in this piece but I agree the regulatory framework is the main obstacle to making AI breakthroughs that are coming sooner than later.
@PulmCrit@Byron11753664 Devils in the details. If this is someone who hasn’t seen a doctor in some time and has LVH on ECG, I would consider starting meds. If he follows with a doctor regularly and has never had high blood pressure I would treat the infection and let him follow with his pcp
@MohammedAlo While I agree with you, the guidelines says patients 40-75 should be risk stratified by ascvd risk and treated with statins accordingly. Not that everyone over ldl of 100 should be treated. Is there something I am missing?
@dr_benoy_n_shah@kaulcsmc By 4th universal definition she had an MI-rise and fall of troponins with ischemic symptoms. Nomenclature aside I do not know what that means practically, I do not think aspirin or statins would be indicated. Maybe Acetyl choline provocation though I would probably just monitor.
@mehdirhasan That’s what makes it worse, why offend him when you’re already giving him huge contracts. It was an unforced error. Not to mention the contracts are not a gift, between starlink and space x he has the best product.
