Between the Trump Hotel Gaza shit and the US pulling aide from Ukraine, I am wondering how all those protest voters are feeling about their choices now
Maybe instead of generative AI, we could spend a little bit of time figuring out how to make a single fucking fridge with a ice maker that isn't the actual shittiest thing humans have ever made
London mayor @SadiqKhan has issued a statement on the US election:
“I know that many Londoners will be anxious about the outcome of the US Presidential election. Many will be fearful about what it will mean for democracy and for women’s rights, or how the result impacts the situation in the Middle East or the fate of Ukraine. Others will be worried about the future of NATO or tackling the climate crisis.
"London is - and will always be - for everyone. We will always be pro-women, pro-diversity, pro-climate and pro-human rights.
"London is a place where we’re proud of our diversity, proud of the contribution of all our communities and proud of our spirit of unity. These are some of the values that will continue to bind us together as Londoners."
"The lesson of today is that progress is not inevitable. But asserting our progressive values is more important than ever - re-committing to building a world where racism and hatred is rejected, the fundamental rights of women and girls are upheld, and where we continue to tackle the crisis of climate change head on."
“If we don’t elect Donald Trump, we will lose democracy in this country.”
It’s really hard to express my contempt for the sort of monster who would immigrate to a country, use it to become the richest man, and then weaponize his wealth to bite off the hand that fed him.
@thvlyt Texas moved so far right today, it erased progress made in every election since 2008. I wish I had an answer beyond "I live in city and city is liberal" -- being from Texas, the correct answer is much more complex and depressing
Really is a tough call.
On one hand - every Nobel prize winning economist is adamantly stating that Harris has a significantly better economic plan
But on the other hand - the dumbest people I’ve ever interacted with say Trump is a good businessman
Quite the dilemma
