I want to report a deeply disturbing experience during my passport police verification in Delhi. What should have been a routine verification turned into an intimidating interrogation, with condescending remarks, irrelevant personal questions and what felt like prejudice based on my surname and presumed regional identity.
I applied from my rented 1 BHK in Delhi after completing my appointment at PSK Shalimar Bagh without any objection to my current address or documents.
During verification, the officer repeatedly said, “Yahan se bahut mushkil hoga, nahi ho payega,” and suggested I apply from my hometown if this application was rejected.
He asked where I worked and, after I told him I was an English teacher at a school, suddenly asked about my salary. He also questioned how many rooms were in the house. I was uncomfortable and could not understand the relevance of these questions to passport verification.
He questioned my elderly landlady about the electricity bill, which was in her deceased husband's name. She said he had passed away. He then asked her, “Passport kya hota hai?” She fumbled a little and then when I helped her, she told him what it is. After she left, he remarked, “Inko to ye nahi pata passport kya hota hai.” I was genuinely shocked. Why ridicule an elderly woman because she is unfamiliar with a process she may never have personally encountered?
The purpose of verification is to verify facts, not humiliate people.
He also questioned me about my father’s education and even commented when I didn't know the name of my father's college.
Most disturbing was his questioning about Uttarakhand and Nepal. My application contained NO Uttarakhand address, yet he asked how far my village was from Nepal, whether I had ever been to Nepal, and said, “Yahan pe to bahut saare Nepali,Afghani,Bangladeshi rehte hain… ye documents unke paas bhi hain. Aap kaise alag hain?”
I've NEVER visited Nepal. Being questioned this way made me feel that assumptions were being made about my identity based on my surname, appearance and presumed regional background.
I am now genuinely worried that an officer who repeatedly told me my application “would not work” from my current address may submit an adverse report based on prejudice rather than facts.
I request @passportsevamea@MEAIndia@CPVIndia and @DelhiPolice to please look into the conduct of the concerned officer and ensure my application is assessed strictly on the prescribed rules and documents.
I am not asking for special treatment. I am asking for a fair, objective and respectful verification process.
I can provide my application/file details, verification details and supporting documents privately to the concerned authorities.
@RideTheBikeUK @MCCOfficial Middle stump moved indeed, but not enough so that bails get completely dislodged. We can see that even though it moved the bails were still on the top of it and when bails dislodged completely, by that time smith had entered in the crease.
@mikeacthomas@MCCOfficial It's not out, It happened many times when bails get dislodged but comes back to their actual position, in this scenario it not out, for a batter to be out at least one bail must be dislodged completely and be out of position.
A humble appeal and sincere request to Honourable Prime Minister Sri @narendramodi ji and Hon. Sports Minister @ianuragthakur, to kindly allow our football team to participate in the Asian games 🙏🏽
We will fight for our nation’s pride and the flag! 🇮🇳
Jai Hind!

@Shivani703 I also experienced the same on 1/12/2020, when they cancelled our morning ✈️ Lucknow-Ahemdabad.However they arranged us a flight in the evening later that day. These things ruin our plans as I had to go hotel straight & next day had imp work so didn't get the time to venture out.
