The Great Gaza Scam; Just Listen to Hamas: What you’re seeing in this video is the plain truth, even though it’s coming from slain Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh. I was directly involved in one of the efforts he’s indirectly referring to. This is a confession from a jihadist organization responsible for immense harm, acknowledging that Gaza’s blockade & conditions were not because Israel was hell‑bent on blocking development. Israel became the lazy, convenient explanation & excuse for people unwilling to look beneath the surface and understand what actually happened in Gaza over the last twenty years.

Here, the head of Hamas admits there were real offers on the table: an airport, a seaport, new industries, major cash infusions – opportunities dating back to 2014. Former Israeli officials like Shaul Mofaz floated plans to raise tens of billions for Gaza’s development, and large parts of Israel’s security establishment were open to letting Gaza grow and prosper. Qatar, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Western governments were prepared to invest serious money, far beyond just humanitarian aid.

In 2015, I launched a multi‑year effort to build an internationally run, Israeli‑approved airport in al‑Mawasi, southern Gaza Strip. The proposal drew intrigue from senior Israeli officials, including Herzi Halevi and Avigdor Lieberman. In 2017, through intermediaries, I even appealed directly to Yahya Sinwar, Hamas’s former chief and architect of October 7, urging him to consider the airport proposal and think strategically about Gaza’s future.

So, what was the price that Israel and the world wanted in exchange for all of this?

As Haniyeh states in this video, the price was Gaza’s disarmament and demilitarization so that it wouldn’t be dragged into endless, self‑destructive wars. Hamas was offered a dignified off‑ramp: integrating its employees and former fighters into civilian police, receiving salaries, and shifting toward nation‑building instead of terrorism. That offer was real, with a political pathway for the group.

After October 7, and Gaza’s vast destruction, tens of thousands killed, and $ billions wasted, Hamas is forcibly entertaining disarmament and demilitarization. This video exposes the “resistance” cheerleaders who celebrated October 7 and the Westerners who insist Gaza could never have developed because of Israel. Listen to Hamas; whether you support them or think they are useful idiots, Gaza’s development was blocked because the terror Islamist group turned the territory into a fortress of violence, tunnels, rockets, smuggling, and radicalization. And no, Gaza and the West Bank are not comparable cases. Gaza had a genuine chance to become the crown jewel of the Palestinian people, a truly compelling model of prosperity and self‑rule.

The pathway forward requires introspection, accountability, responsibility, and Palestinian agency.

Palestine never existed as a sovereign Arab state. The British Mandate of Palestine was a British administration that gained control of the Land of Israel after the Ottoman Empire's fall in 1917.

Jews lived in the Holy Land (the Old Yishuv) for centuries, including under Ottoman rule when they formed Jerusalem's majority.

Before 1909, Tel Aviv was desert land legally purchased by Jews, who transformed it into a prosperous city. No Arabs were displaced; Jews legally bought desert lands and built kibbutzim (agricultural communities).

After the British returned the mandate to the UN, the Arab-Muslim world rejected the partition plan and declared war on Israel and their own Jewish populations. Arab states ethnically cleansed most Jews, who fled to Israel. Armies from Jordan, Syria, Iraq, Egypt, and local Arabs aimed to "push all Jews into the sea."

During the War of Independence, Arab armies ordered local Arabs to leave combat zones to facilitate the annihilation of Jews. Some Arabs were forcibly evacuated to Gaza and the West Bank under Egyptian and Jordanian control.

Israel has never committed genocide and never will. By defending itself, Israel prevents another Jewish genocide.

Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran’s regime are the obstacles to Middle East peace!

I've never felt this much behind as a programmer. The profession is being dramatically refactored as the bits contributed by the programmer are increasingly sparse and between. I have a sense that I could be 10X more powerful if I just properly string together what has become available over the last ~year and a failure to claim the boost feels decidedly like skill issue. There's a new programmable layer of abstraction to master (in addition to the usual layers below) involving agents, subagents, their prompts, contexts, memory, modes, permissions, tools, plugins, skills, hooks, MCP, LSP, slash commands, workflows, IDE integrations, and a need to build an all-encompassing mental model for strengths and pitfalls of fundamentally stochastic, fallible, unintelligible and changing entities suddenly intermingled with what used to be good old fashioned engineering. Clearly some powerful alien tool was handed around except it comes with no manual and everyone has to figure out how to hold it and operate it, while the resulting magnitude 9 earthquake is rocking the profession. Roll up your sleeves to not fall behind.

I’m sick of hearing people say “both sides are led by extremists”, as if this conflict is some mirror image of two nations held hostage by radicals, while the silent “normal majority” on both sides supposedly just wants peace.This is not only wrong - it’s dangerously naive.

Let’s start with us, Palestinians.
Only a handful among us are willing to say out loud that the Right of Return - the idea that millions of us will one day “return” to live inside Israel, is a delusion. It’s not just unrealistic; it’s the fuel that keeps generations trapped in resentment instead of building a future where we are.

But here’s the uncomfortable truth: this isn’t a fringe belief. It’s consensus. Ask anyone - educated or poor, secular or religious and they’ll tell you, “Of course we will return to our land.”
That’s not extremism from the margins; that’s mainstream thought.

Now look at Israel.
Take the most far-right politicians: Ben Gvir, Smotrich, and others who might dream of a “Greater Israel” without Arabs. Their supporters represent maybe 10–18% of Israelis. It’s not consensus. It’s a political minority and not the soul of the country.

That’s the asymmetry people refuse to see.
On one side, a society where extreme goals like “returning to Haifa and Jaffa” are seen as sacred truth.
On the other, a society where extreme goals like “expelling all Arabs” are rejected by the majority.

Before you talk about “solutions,” understand this: you can’t solve what you refuse to see clearly.
The problem isn’t “two extremists holding everyone hostage.”
It’s that in our society, the extremism is the mainstream, and until we confront that, we will keep mistaking self-destruction for dignity.

I’m tired of the lies we tell ourselves. Our leaders cry every day about “the occupation” as if history began in 1948, as if Israel is some unique monster in human history. But let me remind you of something that no one dares to speak out loud: we Arabs are the children of the biggest and longest occupation the Middle East and Africa have ever seen.

In the 7th and 8th centuries, Arab tribes burst out of the Arabian Peninsula. Within just a few decades, they crushed the Byzantine Empire in Syria, Lebanon, and Egypt. They destroyed the Persian Empire. They swept across North Africa, reaching all the way to Morocco, Spain, and even southern France. At its height, the Arab Caliphate ruled 13 million square kilometers - larger than Rome ever dreamed of. Millions of Persians, Berbers, Copts, Arameans, Jews, Greeks, and others suddenly found themselves under Arab rule. Their languages and faiths were pushed aside. Coptic faded in Egypt. Aramaic nearly died out. Even Persian was nearly erased until poets like Ferdowsi fought to keep it alive. Arabic became the dominant tongue, Islam the dominant faith. That was not liberation - it was occupation on a scale that reshaped entire continents.

The Mongols came and went in about a century.

The Romans ruled for centuries, but Latin disappeared from the Middle East.

The British Empire held sway for 200 years, then collapsed.

The Arab-Muslim conquests? It changed the identity of entire nations forever.

Think about it: Egypt was Christian and Coptic-speaking for 600 years before the Arabs came. Today it is Arab and Muslim. North Africa was Berber and Roman. Today it is Arab and Muslim. The Levant spoke Greek and Aramaic. Today it speaks Arabic. Even Spain lived under Arab rule for 700 years. That is not just an “occupation” - that is a civilizational overhaul.

And yet, in 2025, our leaders - who are themselves the product of this massive Arab occupation, weep about Israel, a sliver of land the size of New Jersey, calling it “the worst occupation.” Really? Compared to what the Arabs did to North Africa, Persia, and the Levant? Compared to the centuries-long Arab rule that erased identities, forced conversions, and remade entire regions?

If we, Palestinians, want honesty, we must stop pretending that Israel invented occupation. The truth is bitter: we live in the shadow of the largest and longest Arab occupation in history. Blaming only Israel while worshiping our corrupt leaders who exploit this narrative is not justice, it’s cowardice.

History matters. And if we don’t face it, we will remain slaves not to Israel, but to our own hypocrisy.
