An online portal claims Bangladesh is reportedly in the final stages of negotiations with China to acquire J-10CE multirole fighter aircraft, with media reports suggesting an agreement could be signed in August 2026.

The proposed government-to-government package is estimated to be worth approximately $2.2 billion and could include fighter aircraft, pilot and technical training, logistics infrastructure, spare parts, maintenance and long-term support.

However, reports differ over the number of aircraft involved. Government documents reviewed by The Business Standard previously indicated a plan to purchase 20 J-10CE fighters, while more recent international defence reports have cited a possible order for 24 aircraft.

The reported payment arrangement would spread the cost over approximately 10 fiscal years, potentially continuing until 2035–36. Deliveries have been variously reported as beginning between late 2026 and 2027, but no official delivery timetable has been confirmed.
