Every time the lands in Magic conversation comes up I feel like people just spout off "mana screw sucks" without taking 10 seconds to think about all the mechanics, decks and depth that exists in Magic solely because of lands.
Magic without lands would quite literally be a different game. Maybe some people would like that game better, but I don't think people really understand how different the whole game would be.
@AuroraUnit242@SaffronOlive You would think that but collaborations with outside IP have happened time and time again.
Fortnite wasn’t able to but this might qualify as merchandise (and nintendo has worked with Hasbro before), so I would not write it off until we hear anything official.
If there’s one thing I want aspiring game devs to know, it this:
Don’t feel locked in to any particular platform or engine. There are a lot of options, many of them free of royalties or licenses.
Nothing can stop you from creating, you just need to find your tools.
@BobServo1 There is an argument for abandoning accessibility in pursuit of interesting game design, but you do that you prevent yourself from getting those sales.
There’s no correct option here, just different ones.
.@BasedMikeLee Do you think you could do something about the DMCA? Anyone one the internet in the past 30 years knows that it didn’t stop people from piracy, it was weaponized against those trying to own the hardware they bought.
