As with any business, if you start a business with zero intellectual leverage or competitive advantage, expect to put in 7-10 years before you make a meaningful life changing sum of money.

If you can't tolerate life looking like a failure or appearing to go nowhere for 7-10 years don't even start and cover your bases first.

On top of that, you also become immune to losing money, and because of that you can lose money gracefully instead of stupidly.

And one of the requirements to make a large sum of money in trading or any business is you have to be willing to put capital at stake, and be ready for it to go south, and risk in a manner you have a positive expectancy.

If you're in survival mode when you start trading or any business, and your basic finances are in shambles, you're in debt, etc., or you grew up middle class counting every penny, you're going to have a very very difficult time, so you're basically biding by time and hoping luck eventually favours you as you learn the ropes.

For this reason, you must be super conservative and avoid any expectations of big money making in your first few years just to survive and stay in the game.

The harder you press for making money soon, the longer it will take you to become sustainably profitable.

The worst part about pressing for profitability and thinking being okay with losing money is losing gracefully and then losing money and realising your mind is fucked too much to allow you to rationally run your business - it goes on in a loop until you either quit or figure a way out and achieve escape velocity.

This is part of the reason those with no background in business, no family support, no financial base secured, should always have a main source of income that is not their business and be nonchalant about the business while focusing on the process to make that business successful.

Being nonchalant and not caring about the absolute amount of money you're making while making improvements every day and every week is the way you build a large enough stage 1 to reach stage 2.

Why is it greed? The things you're outlining are almost as problematic.

Her reasons are her reasons. The best you can do is make sure such candidates don't filter through your screening process.

The second best thing is having a pipeline - and if she was going to do this, you could ask your second best candidate and meet them where they are.

Third, every company is greedy for profitability. Almost nobody does a business for charity. So let's avoid using the word "greed" out of context. She's looking out for her best, but her lack of professionalism is definitely worth calling out. Just not that it's out of greed. It's her prioritising herself. You didn't get to work with her, she's optimising her next few years.

In today's market even a person earning 4-5 lakhs a month is not able to buy a home in places like hyderabad or bangalore, can you blame these people?
