PM2.5 levels increase in #Mumbai on 22/10/2023 compared to a day before with PM2.5 concentration recorded at 78 µg/m3 above the NAAQS and more than 5 times the #WHO daily guideline levels
- Mira-Bhayandar, #Jalgaon, #Ulhasnagar, #NaviMumbai and #Thane recorded higher PM2.5 levels than Mumbai while #Virar, #Nashik, #Bhiwandi, #Badlapur, Pimpri-Chinchwad, #Kolhapur, #Parbhani, #Solapur, #Sangli and #Akola followed Mumbai but recorded PM2.5 levels beyond #NAAQS by #CPCB.
- No city had PM2.5 levels below the WHO daily prescribed levels of 15 µg/m3
- #BMC has started taking some reactionary actions to reduce pollution levels, but the solution lies in emission load reduction at source rather than capturing or suppressing it through anti-#smog guns or smog towers after it has already being released in atmosphere.
