CLAUDE FABLE 5 GPT-6 AND GEMINI 3 ALL KILLED PROMPT ENGINEERING - CONTEXT ENGINEERING REPLACED IT AT ANTHROPIC OPENAI AND GOOGLE - YOUR TEAM IS BURNING $48K/YEAR
i audited 200+ agent stacks last month - every single one had the same 1-line prefix bug - 3 minute fix cuts the bill in half
11 of 13 models die at 32K tokens - you paid for 200K you can never use - the pricing page is a buffer size not a capability
cache misses cost 12.5x - one volatile timestamp above the breakpoint voids everything - retail forever
84% fewer tokens -> 39% better performance -> both directions at once - the tokens you deleted were making the model dumber
58 tools = 55K tokens loaded before you type hello - Anthropic engineers ditched this 6 months ago - accuracy jumped 25 points
one irrelevant sentence = 65% accuracy drop - your top-k RAG is a distractor generator with good intentions
turn 12 is not turn 1 - 39% degradation on every frontier model - your evals pass because they ran on turn 1

One pattern I find useful for working with LLMs is a nice long ramble session. Sometimes the LLM needs more bits to understand what you're trying to achieve, but you're too lazy to type them. In these cases I like to lean back, switch to /voice and just ramble for like 10 minutes, total mess, anything goes, full stream of consciousness. Sometimes I declare it up top, something like "switching to speech recognition sorry for any typos...". Sometimes I turn it into a small interview of a few turns. But I find that the LLMs are somehow very good at reconstructing long incoherent rambles and often their echo of your own tangle of thoughts comes out quite a bit cleaner than what you started with. The result is that you improve the mind meld and have to correct things less from that point on.
