1/ Kate Forbes has been adamant in parliament that money “is being spent currently” (on the unspent EU structural funds story).
But I have just received this remarkable FOI response, which tries to equate “spending” with “claiming reimbursement”. These are not the same thing.
@w_ynd Odd indeed that no one submitted a response to the refereed journal that paper and result was published in, namely the National Institute Economic Review!
A terrific result for the Highlands and hopefully a return to the crafting of policies that are relevant and meet the needs of locals and the many tourists who visit our patch. It’s a wonder we have a functioning local economy here after the disastrous policies pursued by the SNP

@AndrewSteel_@staylorish Yes, and many of her constituents suffer greatly because of her prioritising party politics over people as exemplified in their disastrous and vacuous health policies on Skye. If Scotland is to have a sustainable future we need politicians who understand rural Scotland’s needs.

I’m pleased to see that my paper on Adam Smith and neoliberalism has been published today in a special issue of the @NIESRreview edited by colleagues @UofGAsbs . There are a number of other interesting papers on Smith in the special issue.

In the eighth paper, @UofGAsbs's @rmacdonald7 reassesses the societal consequences of the post-1970 adoption of neo-liberal policies⬇️

@staylorish Yes an interesting one and I wasn’t aware of this. I suspect they will be underwritten either explicitly or implicitly. And they are doing it at time when yields are abnormally high which suggests a degree of desperation about their potential tax changes.
