No NWS office is “grossly understaffed”. NWS offices have 69 Met positions openings, 13 Chief Met openings and over 90 technical staff openings and over 70% of those have been open over 6 months. NWS Jackson DID get the warnings out 40 minutes in advance of the deadly tornadoes and made arrangements 3 days in advance to staff their office during the normal 1am to 7am shutdown. They just didn’t upgrade the storm to PDS or TOR E for whatever their reasoning was which is why WX is crying. Despite being short staffed from hiring deficiencies they have all done a remarkable job during an amazing spring outbreak. All of this info is available from NOAA, WEKU and the Washington Post if you’d care to research instead of just screech irresponsible information.

@NWSNewOrleans 5/2 from the Marrero tornado or winds associated with it. Inspected two houses and there’s more damage on that street. Some roofs were previously damaged/compromised beforehand though. Lots of thrown debris on Sauvage as well.
