It was a great pleasure to meet Prof. Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor of Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi @bhupro

I have had the privilege of knowing Prof. Chaturvedi for more than a decade, from the time he served as Director of @iitroorkee and later as Director of @iit__mandi. An accomplished scientist, distinguished scholar, and able administrator, he enjoys immense respect within India's academic and research community.

I was delighted to present him with a copy of my book, UNBROKEN: My Battle with Cancer and the Will to Lead.

We had an engaging discussion on recent national initiatives in research and innovation. Prof. Chaturvedi shared several exciting efforts being undertaken at BHU to strengthen and scale up the University's R&D and innovation ecosystem. It was heartening to learn about BHU's vision and commitment to advancing research, fostering innovation, and contributing to India's knowledge economy.

I wish Banaras Hindu University every success in its endeavors to further strengthen research, innovation, and academic excellence.

India and the European Union have launched two major research initiatives under the India-EU Trade and Technology Council (TTC).

While one initiative targets combating marine plastic litter and addresses the pervasive issue of marine pollution threatening biodiversity and human health; the second initiative addresses developing sustainable energy solutions through converting biogenic waste into hydrogen.

With a joint investment of ₹391 crore (~€41 million), these initiatives aim to foster collaborative research and innovation for a cleaner, more sustainable future.

TTC was established in 2022, by Indian Prime Minister, Shri @narendramodi and @EU_Commission President, @vonderleyen to strengthen the bilateral partnership on trade and technology.

We deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Prof. Rohini Godbole, a pioneering physicist and a champion for women in science. Her remarkable contributions to equity and inclusion in STEM have inspired countless individuals and transformed the landscape of scientific research in India. Her legacy will continue to resonate within the scientific community. She contributed immensely to the drafting of 5th STI policy expecially the chapter on Equity n Inclusion.

A Two-day Summit titled- ‘The Critical Minerals Summit: Enhancing Beneficiation and Processing Capabilities’ has been inaugurated today at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.
