"Many of the things that the American Indian Movement and Leonard Peltier fought for did contribute to changes that we have today… he has never been able to reap the benefits of that work because he's been incarcerated for 49 years" -@NickTilsen

TODAY: Over 400 Stanford University students walk out of commencement alongside their families during President Richard Saller’s speech.
Students say the walkouts are demanding divestment from Israel and are protesting the shut down of a 120 day sit-in for Gaza.
An excellent interview with @ndncollective executive director Nick Tilsen, about Native leader, political prisoner Leonard Peltier and his parole hearing. The struggle continues!

But the United States is rewriting laws to fit their agenda of colonization and genocide.
The time for healing is now. If Leonard isn’t free, none of us are free.”
In South Dakota, we make up 41% of people in prison, despite being less than 10% of the population. That’s a lot of people going to prison because our warriors are strong and talking out against a system that oppresses and kills them.
It has been over four decades of his imprisonment. Every indigenous nation on Turtle Island has a story to be told, just like Leonard Peltier. We have had our leaders targeted, killed, incarcerated.
Leonard Peltier's unjust imprisonment has been recognized as such by national and international human rights organizations, leading voices on criminal justice issues, dignitaries from around the world, and nearly 100 current and former members of Congress.
When he got COVID in prison, he wasn’t given water for four days. Due to Leonard’s already fragile health status, there is renewed urgency behind the effort to gain his release. His unconstitutional conviction is now turning into a de facto death sentence.

We are all wearing red today to circle the White House and demand the end to the genocide in Gaza. My red shirt today is Free Leonard Peltier. His parole hearing is Monday, but the people's struggle will free him. 49 years of unjust imprisonment!
Leonard Peltier's last parole hearing was 15 years ago. The dream and vision are still the same. We want to see him as a free man by the Tree of Life. Pray for him. @POTUS@BarackObama@andyjspahn@StevieVanZandt@jbendery@tmorello https://t.co/dqkBBUdT3S
