@DeeperWithDiego @elonmusk Except that's not all it does. It also sets guidelines like the horrible Common Core State Standards & can also allocate funding based on adherence to those "voluntary" standards.
@Lib_Development@upstatefederlst I can buy, right now USA made t-shirts using USDA cotton for $13. 100 minimum order.
With scale, I'm sure that price goes even lower.
@pblowe2@Variety Problem is, you're too low information to get the joke.
The joke had nothing to do with race. It was about the trash crisis the island is experiencing.
@PawlowskiMario@emiranda1951@cb_doge My sister-in-law was here illegally & married my brother-in-law during that time. We let her and two daughters be deported back to Honduras and had them back legally with green cards in nine months.
@fitzroy777 @JonathanFoulds Ice cream sales & shark attacks correlate perfectly as well.
And since ice cream sales rise before shark attacks, it obvious eating ice cream increases your odds of being eaten by a shark.
Hey @DickDurbin maybe you should retract the amicus brief you and other senators filed with the Supreme Court in the Triton case claiming that there is a youth vaping epidemic. It clearly appears that you are wrong.
I guess we can stop with the "E-cigarettes are a gateway to smoking" nonsense. With numbers like these, vaping isn't even a gateway to vaping.
Current use down from 7.7% to 5.9%. With almost half (44.1%) using less than 5 days a month.
🚨 NYTS 2024 results! 🚨
Youth e-cig use declined again in 2024, to 5.9% who used at all in P30D.
This is a >70% decline from the 2019 peak.
Youth pouch use remains low (<2% who used at all in P30D) *despite* ⬆️sales (which must be among adults).

One of the most powerful commentaries I've read, from one of the most respected academics on tobacco & alcohol.
Click the link. Read the post.
Kudos @mbsiegel
"cigarettes and e-cigarettes are economic substitutes. This means that e-cigarettes have served as a much lower risk alternative option for youth who most likely otherwise would have smoked cigarettes. And because of this substitution effect, it is very difficult to find a young adult today who is smoking tobacco cigarettes. Another way of putting this is that we have almost completely eradicated tobacco use among young adults. And of course, this means that as these young people age, we are on a path to eradicate cigarette smoking entirely.
The public health benefits that will accrue from these long-term trends will be mind-boggling. While not supported by most tobacco control organizations and agencies, the advent of electronic cigarettes will -- if trends are allowed to continue -- one day be looked at as the end game strategy that made smoking history."

@thebee@TahirTturk No worries Bee. This is Tahir's "say the lie enough times & it becomes true" tactic. He been shown countless times the real number of average puff per day of around 160.
Yet he repeats the 500 liebecause he's a narcissistic sociopath who would see rather you die than switch.
I'm am pleased to announce that after over three years of threatening to do so, @tahirtturk has finally blocked me.
Whatever will I do without access to his brilliant insights?
@TahirTturk And yet 48 million cases of food poisoning a year & less than 5K cases of nicotine exposure.
Seems those stomachs are rather delicate.
Fuckin' numpty.
