Deputy Head & DSL in an independent specialist provision, former PE teacher. Northerner in the south after 9 years in Coventry. Love sport & photography
After 26 years teaching, last 11 as #Senco , I'm finally saying goodbye to mainstream education. Definitely the right time for a change of direction. Exhausted but excited #SEN#selfcare#proud.

Just finished my 1st half term as a Deputy Head and DSL, with the little matter of an inspection thrown in for good measure. Looking forward to a much needed break to recharge and go again. #inclusion#learningcurve

A message to America, from Europe
As seen on The Last Leg, with thanks to @BakersTweet for making it sing.

An important read. Will be interesting to see where we go next and how we can work towards making sure that children are in the best place for their education. #inclusion
Despite more money #send outcomes are no better says @NAOorguk - noting that EHCPs are up and also there’s been a 35% decrease on he amount spent per child https://t.co/yhgfu92VMK
@john_fuller75 Completely agree John. Continually playing at "out grounds" really restricts the opportunity to stay for a beer. This used to be an integral part of the game and I really miss it! Shame I have still never played at your ground!
@DJGteaching Me too! Leaving mainstream education after 26 years! More excited than nervous. Looking forward to a new challenge. Good luck in your new role
@rlrossi64 Totally agree - going with a family to a specialist provision was such a positive experience. So important to be honest through the process to get the best outcome for the child and family. There is definitely lots to miss as a SENDCo!
Is this what we should be teaching children in school? So much for "British values"! Interesting question for @NickGibbUK does he see this behaviour as a positive role model for our students?
Jayne Secker - Do you agree with what Lee Anderson said?
Robert Jenrick - Yes
JS - Hope not hate say words have consequences... so when will the government realise that language matters.. as this could stoke up far right activity
RJ - I don't think that's right

@CogbillRachel Maybe speak to SENCO, are there hidden needs you haven't been made aware of? Get SLT /year leader involved and speak to parents /carers. All teachers should be able to feel safe at work
What a great whistle-stop tour of #executivefunction from fellow North eastener @caroljallen today at the @SENDShowUK. So much to take on board, can't wait to get started!
Excellent presentation by @MaxineJBurns on #DLD at the @SENDShowUK. Lots of great ideas to work on to develop our whole school approach to this key area of need.
