The @premierleague will be on its arse in the next 5yrs. The foundations that created the ‘Sky 6’ are being neglected. When the rest of the pyramid suffers, eventually the whole structure does. It’s starting to crumble. Football can’t keep taking from the many to benefit the few.
@Bigmanno9 You’re missing the point. Nobody (including NUFC fans) wants to be in a competition which is designed to keep the best teams at the top. The 4-6 clubs that can win it are the issue, they’re the ‘Big 6’. Other clubs get close, but when they do they can’t keep momentum
@msowden22@cola_fur@Darren081273@GarySmithJnr Tottenham benefited from a period when clubs could grow their revenues through sporting success and investment before the current financial controls fully constrained that process. Newcastle and Villa are trying to climb the same ladder after several rungs have been removed
@msowden22@cola_fur@Darren081273@GarySmithJnr People compare Spurs’ spending decisions with clubs backed by enormous wealth, but the Premier League now actively prevents clubs from using owner wealth as freely as before
@AFC_OSRS@Free_Plasticine@premierleague I think we’ve got a better board than Chelsea. Issue is they have plenty of get out of jail free cards so they can just keep turning the wheel. The hoops the rest of the league have to jump through is ridiculous
@AFC_OSRS@Free_Plasticine@premierleague And that right there is the issue. Chelsea are diabolical the last few years, but they can just keep spending, spending and spending. Villa, Brighton etc will still have to keep selling to enable them to spend, which puts them at risk of loosing momentum.
@Darren081273@GarySmithJnr No the rules were changed within the last 5 years to ensure those teams stay at the top.
It’s like allowing the first few people to climb a ladder without restrictions, then pulling the ladder up behind them and telling everyone else they have to find another way up.
@AFC_OSRS@Free_Plasticine@premierleague All PLC part of the ‘Sky 6’. It’s designed to keep them up there. Nobody can get in, and if you do there will be financial consequences. You won’t see it because you support Arsenal mate
@Free_Plasticine@premierleague How teams are funded is a separate issue. I’m talking about the competitiveness of the premier league and the wider impact is has on the whole pyramid
