@wiscobirder I have seen 3x recently a bird pair of what I think are catbirds, but they are many shades darker than most examples in refs. Nearer grackle/starling darkness, not shimmery, and both in pair are same mark, hue. Thanks for hints about variation.
Dear Editor: Next summer, Milwaukee will host the Republican National Convention in July and Chicago will host the Democratic National Convention in August. https://t.co/Z3wXFyHIF8
@laurakdurr@AcademicChatter My roommates and I needed a fourth, and the person who I sent an internship application to that week showed up to meet us + see the place. They recognized me immediately. Our best prospect fell through—had to explain why. Also, prob unrelatedly, didn’t get the internship any way.
@DasDing_Dong I am most interested in the ideas and the human organizing approaches that make such change and revolution possible. Great Lakes feel like the loci where such American (continent) innovation is be possible, probable.
@DasDing_Dong Reducing pollution, reforesting or rewilding spaces, or changing land use in a way that can be visually captured is where I’d guess we may see that again. Rust best to modern utopia.
@SamHoisington A studio feels antiquated with vid tech now. How much ad money for land + infrastructure costs?
The creator + coordinator relationship seems core to good journalism. Writer, editor. Broadcaster, producer.
Sectors that want to be covered need to help make coverage easy.
@RichardHaass I became aware of this book after you were on @AmanpourCoPBS today. I also recently put forward the concept for a 'Bill of Citizen Responsibilities' which seems to have a similar premise. I'm looking forward to reading your book to see what you propose. https://t.co/94We0XBcb7
@profkateaguilar Aspiring ‘trailer’ here (fingers crossed for upcoming academic job markets). I have intentionally developed a career not dependent on location so that I can move around for/with my spouse’s ambitions. Really hoping remote work becomes a reality for more people—it helps greatly.
@lauren_chou@TheOtherMandela Wouldn’t it be great if they spent it on something people need and not advertising. That’s like enough childcare for a dozen families through Election Day.
@nadaelmikashfi Most original style I’ve seen for some time, super chill and relaxing, and along with Cristela Alonzo (Middle Classy), best writing this year imo.
@hari Do you mean people’s capacity or editorial’s focus?
Bandwidth seems to be a construct of the medium, not the mind.
Profit-driven media is risk averse, and broadcast coverage sticks to easy stories with predictable returns—enough eyes to get/keep sponsors.
Is research here?
@TheAtlantic@RichardvReeves I was shy, and admins advised my parents to delay enrollment. They said no. I was the youngest kid in K and I gained social skills much earlier this way. No one approach is right. Flexibility—not a rigid redshirting policy—is what you should be advocating for based on this data.
