Was very excited to win the raffle today! This will make the 5hr train journey home fly by!
I'll be donating it to our departmental library so our trainees can benefit.

A great webinar from Dr Sophie Wallace on when to refer to a forensic pathologist, including things to look out for in cases of suspected hanging, possible assault, historic assault, road traffic deaths.
Recording will be available on the RCPath website in the coming weeks.
This is an excellent discussion with Caroline Copeland. Since her research was complete, the world has of course moved on. Since December 23, Xylazine is increasingly found by WEDINOS added to heroin samples as Afghan heroin is becoming scarce. Especially in the Edinburgh region.
These are some of the cases from this year’s cardiac EQA slides:
❤️Necrotising granulomatous pericarditis
❤️Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
❤️Amyloid
❤️And an unusual band-like pattern of fibrosis in the LV, due to desmin cardiomyopathy

@actor_joshua Interesting logic. Will they be trained to look at and interpret bone marrows? If so, logic suggests here that they could pop down to our department and help report the massive GI and Skin biopsy backlog? It's all a bit House-esque innit?
@SuellaBraverman That's fantastic! We need more builders, NHS workers, teachers and community members! Welcome extra million people, I look forward to enjoying your company🥰
@EruditeElf Also, don't need gloves for a PR. A good quality nail brush is a much more sustainable solution! Do you know how much plastic waste we create in the NHs, and the cost of tiger bag disposal?!
@bykatewomersley I will absolutely NOT be giving my partner a hammer in order to assess my testicles, very poor infographic which will lead to numerous A&E visits.
