@Colleenallreds@NJTurnpike Worth noting the cost of the designs has now far exceeded the Jacobs Engineering report estimated cost of repairing the bridge and extending its life 40+ years.
@guiferloo @robthishandle Nah it was 35 mins between trains. A frequency that njt type regional rail can (sadly) get away w but a proper subway like PATH should never.
I briefly return to twitter to say that the PATH is still bad.
With that said, I’m still glad @robthishandle is proud of the year he spent on the board. Good self esteem is important for mental health.
@jimmybot@robthishandle Sometimes I wonder if he was aware the PATH was part of the port authority. Like he thought, “yea I see ships coming into the port, nice” and told himself he’s crushing it.
@StevenFulop@SafeStreetsJC@JerseyCity@MikeLydon@bikejc @VisionZeroJC This is great. Bump outs improve just about every intersection.
Given the safety benefits of curb extensions projects like this are worth doing even if they didn’t create more parking.
The report recommends that the state extend its Corporation Business Tax surtax and dedicate those funds to NJ Transit, which has never had dedicated state funding unlike all other similarly sized transit agencies.

The research: painting murals at intersections reduce crashes improving safety
DOT guidelines: painting intersections is bad bc pedestrians and bikers will stand in the middle of the street staring at them. 🫠
Find me a DOT that isn’t absolutely hostile to people not in cars.
When towns think about making their streets safer, it doesn’t always have to mean a lot of infrastructure investment.
One cheap easy trick: paint murals at intersections.
Looks awesome and improves pedestrian and biker safety.
@RebovichInst @wildstein@GovMurphy What exactly are her observations of how NJ politics work?
If you mean that she is content funneling billions to a connected road union with the I78 widening despite the government's own engineering report undercutting the purported value of it ... then yea, shrewd observer. 🙃
Ah yes, the deadly two-wheeled ex-motor cycle vehicles. Let’s check the 3 year stats
* 10 deaths for ebikes, mopeds etc
* 124,558 deaths for cars
I’m sure the next op-ed will be about banning cars 🙃
Bike fear mongering is bizarre, innumerate, and dishonest.
@GovMurphy@NewJerseyDOT Scaccetti does nothing but spend billions widening highways while transit whithers away but sure, give her a promotion.
Transportation is 40% of the state’s GhG emissions and NJT’s capital plan is unfunded. This says a lot about your priorities and none of it good.
.@GovMurphy rhetoric ...
* climate change is real
* @NJTRANSIT is "fixed"
the reality ...
* $30B across multiple highway widenings
* no dedicated funding source for NJT
* the person who oversees this transit and climate disaster, @Teepeea2Diane, gets a promotion

BREAKING: Gov. Phil Murphy will name NJ Commissioner of Transportation Diane Gutierrez-Scaccetti to replace George Helmy as his new chief of staff.

On Tuesday Maplewood voted to officially eliminate the town’s fire department. They had combined with South Orange’s last year to form South Essex FD. So there’s some consolidation happening in NJ.
They share a school district and now a fd. Merge the towns!!!
@RidleyAM1 I’ve long been on the Hudson City bandwagon, that seems like the easiest. But the burbs around newark, yea, start smushing then together.
I have no idea where Harrison ends and East newark begins and I just don’t care to learn bc it is so arbitrary lol
@DavidCruzNJ No it’s the identical situation! 🥴🙄
Come on. Lol
Like all shitposts there’s a nugget of truth. They are accused of something that undercuts the public’s faith and trust in their ability to do their jobs yet they won’t budge.
Main difference: pols asking for Bob to resign.
