My friend Linus made this in-depth video about how chop suey fonts became the face of Chinese food in the US and you should watch it cos it's super well done and deserves all the eyeballs https://t.co/a0Bni6xQBi
I just finished watching "Galavant", which means I wasted six years of my life not watching this musical two-minute nugget of perfection https://t.co/iwLbiXUdR7
@didipaterno I have two of those manatee infusers, given to me by two different people. 😂 I never use em but they're cute so I'll probably keep em until I die.
@maxfalkowitz@doriegreenspan After I got off the phone, one of my friends in the office told me I had been giggling excessively during the call. Oh god. 🤣 Anyhoo, Dorie makes you feel like you're an important friend who is worth her time and in the moment I BELIEVE IT (and then later I come to my senses)
@maxfalkowitz@doriegreenspan Did I ever tell you bout when I was still an SE baby and I interviewed Dorie on the phone about macarons and she was insanely generous with her time and talked to me like we were buddies and made me feel so warm n fuzzy but I was prolly glistening in nervous sweats the whole time
@rabonour @FakeBenJay @maxfalkowitz@seriouseats @dotdashco Buuuuh I didn't go through or save anything either. Just crossed my fingers and hoped whatever they wanted to get rid of was garbage. 😅
@maxfalkowitz Daaaang that's messed up! My bio is fine cos I wrote it myself and kept it lean on purpose (but uh also I've got nothing else to say about myself) https://t.co/qrlXpahLXB
@suyeelin Anyhoo if you make the pistachio honey mooncakes, let me know how it goes! I used 25g of dough for each mooncake to go with 25g filling, but I think 25g dough was too much. But I'm thinking in "thin traditional mooncake skin" terms. For a shortbread cookie thingy it's ok.
Has anyone else made these honey pistachio mooncakes (https://t.co/riQMyzXoIZ)? It says the dough is for 12 pieces, but it makes enough for at least 24. It seems like such a big error though that I've been questioning if I know how to do math (I..I think I do?).
@suyeelin Actually another big part of my mooncake obsession is that I like to give homemade mooncakes to my Chinese diaspora friends. If I had no one to give mooncakes to, I probably wouldn't make so many. The line between "GAWD I LOVE BEAN PASTE" and "I'm sick of bean paste" is thin. 😂
@suyeelin Totes understandable. Distance made the heart grow fonder for me--I only became obsessed with making decent mooncakes after moving to Norway. In the US, I'd be like, "Guess it's time for me to eat my yearly mooncake then immediately get tired of it until next year."
@foodinmouth I think I messed up by making the crust too thick and overbaking the cakes (had trouble browning well). That's my bad. I think it tastes pretty good as a nut-filled shortbread cookie thing, but not so good I'd make this over a mooncake filled with good ol' bean mash.
@foodinmouth Recipe isn't hard, but I think it's written surprisingly not well? It doesn't say how many grams the filling/crust should be, but precision is pretty important for mooncakes (...or I'm hella anal).
Few things make me laugh as much as the AI Weirdness newsletter. Feast your eyeballs til they puke on these AI-generated food trucks https://t.co/v5GuzdqZbj
