New: Hackers have been stealing high-profile Instagram accounts by simply asking Meta's AI support chatbot to change the email associated with the account they want to steal.
Shockingly easy, terrible flaw associated with offloading support to AI:

Gell-Mann Amnesia, but it’s for this textbook I’m reading that is conflating standard deviations of normal distributions with confidence intervals, and every time I see it my blood boils a little.
% lefties = x / (x + 1). So for the room to be 98% lefty:
0.98 = x / (x + 1)
0.98(x + 1) = x
0.98x + 0.98 = x
0.98 = x(1 - 0.98)
0.98/(0.02) = x
(0.98/1) / (2/100) = x
(0.98 * 100)/(1 * 2) = x
98/2 = x
49 = x
99 - 49 =50 lefties have to leave.
The people saying only 1 lefty has to leave would only be correct if that lefty was *replaced* by a righty.
But if one lefty leaves and isn’t replaced, the denominator is no longer 100, it’s 99. And you’d have 98 lefties out of 99 people, which is 98/99 or about 98.9%
I have a degree in rocket science, which had a humanities requirement.
Every humanity I took was a joke; read a few essays and summarize what you read in another essay. Watch a movie, write a couple paragraphs. Multi choice tests.
Meanwhile, I had an engineering prof ask this:
Look, two things are true:
1. Calculus is among the easiest of classes for some majors
2. There are many majors that don’t have a single class as difficult as calculus
Each year, the challenge gets slight more technical. By 2070, candidates will be asked to resolve a bunch of Node dependencies after a dev gets mad and delists a core package from the public repo.
We should replace the electoral college with a literal race.
We sit each candidate down at a computer and hand them a thumb drive with a PDF on it.
First person to successfully print it to the right printer is president. Second place is VP. They can’t ask for help.
@chosen_the88@unusual_whales It's measuring "net worth", so I'd guess it's heavily biased towards middle class, white collar, dual-income households who bought homes between, say, 2014 and 2019.
You know what Netflix needs?
“Blockbuster Mode.”
Friday/Saturday nights, you open up Netflix and have like 6 options, all movies that were released like 2 months ago.
So much easier to choose what to watch when you don’t have access to 1M things. Plus the troll factor.
I replaced my 21+ year old Civic with a gently used PHEV back in January, and it’s become my wife’s daily driver
I fueled the car Jan 21, then finally refueled it today when I drove thru a car wash
We only burned 8 gal of gas in 71 days and ~1,600 mi. Floored by the performance
