SpaceX has just officially announced Starbase, Louisiana, a new $100+ billion spaceport in South Louisiana near Pecan Island.
Construction starts in 2027, with the first Starship launch from the new site planned for 2029.
Starbase, Louisiana will be built to support thousands of Starship flights a year. This self-sustaining spaceport will have propellant production, power generation, deep-water shipping capabilities, vehicle processing facilities, and an airport.
SpaceX is committed to investing at least $100 billion and creating more than 3,000 new jobs at Starbase, Louisana hiring heavily from nearby communities and utilizing Louisiana workers’ extensive experience of building complex infrastructure in their unique environment.
In Vermilion Parish, the shoreline is eroding between 3.3 and 23 feet per year. SpaceX is partnering with state and federal agencies to expand Louisiana’s Coastal Master Plan and Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection and Restoration Act projects, including Gulf shoreline protection breakwaters designed to reduce wave energy and slow loss along the Gulf edge.
This morning’s @SpaceX mission from pad 40 was the last planned Falcon 9 Starlink launch from Florida (and it launched on the fleet leading booster!!), marking the end of an era for these launches on the East Coast. From here on, Starlink missions out of Florida will fly on Starship. The West Coast team will continue regularly launching Starlink from Vandenberg.
Super proud of this incredible team. You’ve made Falcon 9 the most reliable launch vehicle in history. You also helped build the largest low-Earth orbit satellite constellation providing connectivity to millions around the world, and you’ve set the foundation for what’s next.
In the last seven years, Falcon has flown ~260 Starlink missions from the Cape… can’t wait until we launch that and many more with Starship!
The quality of conversations on X is much higher than it is on Instagram.
Far more people here who actually THINK.

"The world makes no sense if you think everyone is born exactly the same."
@KonstantinKisin asks @nathancofnas what motivates him to tackle controversial topics despite pushback from all sides.
His answer: ignoring natural group differences forces society to blame "mystical injustice" for inequality, meaning there will be no peace until we accept biological reality.
Cursor has been a trusted partner of Anthropic since Sonnet 3.5. We’ll continue to increase compute to support Claude models in Cursor and are excited for what comes next with them at SpaceX.
Ask Grok: "Create a Magic: The Gathering creature card of me based on my post history."
I love the spider wasps! And the nuance in the abilities is also impressive.
In Magic, Ward is an ability that taxes your opponent whenever they try to target the card. Seems like this related to being hard to "cancel."
The automatic Enchantment counter unless the opponent pays is pretty sweet.
And the ability to exile Illusions (debunk nonsense) is on point!
Reusable rockets broke the cost curve, and when the price of orbit collapses, we're going to open an entire economy above your head. Welcome to [soon] to space.
