🇧🇷🇺🇸 BRAZILIAN JUSTICE SAYS SURPRISED BY USA POSSIBLE SANCTIONS
During the trial to decide whether to open an investigation against justice Alexandre de Moraes - already sanctioned by U.S. as a human rights violator - over roughly BRL
200 million he and his family received from a banker implicated in a corruption scandal, his colleague Flávio Dino claims to be "surprised" by press reports suggesting Brazilian authorities could face American sanctions depending on how the supreme court shields Moraes from the substantial evidence against him.
Worth remembering: the Magnitsky Act itself states that anyone who supports a sanctioned individual can face the same sanctions.
Dino argues that U.S. enforcement of these measures would violate Brazilian sovereignty, and shrugs it off, saying he doesn't care whether it happens or not.
But that dismissal reveals the opposite: real concern about American action and about the Magnitsky Act being applied to human rights violators and those who protect them.
