This is a nice example of exploratory analysis of the value of GPT-4 in medical diagnosis, the conclusion is worth reading:
1) GPT-4 beat 99.98% human journal readers, but it also had limits
2) GPT-4 is not optimized for medicine, seems urgent to think about how to do even better
@NEJM_AI@mcuban@mcuban when you describe the tuning of models by private institutions with their own knowledge, how do you account for peer-reviewed, public literature as a democratizing force?
@NEJM_AI@atulbutte Anywhere that the links mentioned in the talk got collated? Especially interested in annual report use cases mentioned by @atulbutte
@mualphaxi The tech and life sciences space seems poised for big growth with coastal hubs potentially saturated. How does @8vc think about that in terms of future biotech hubs?
We are excited to announce that @SusanQuaggin, MD, has been named the new chair of the Department of Medicine. She will be the first woman to serve as @NorthwesternU's chair of Medicine.

Excited to share our work using genetic fitness data to map a network of genes critical for cellular resilience, a project which led to biochemical dissection of a new gene. Out now @PNASNews. 1/n 🧵 https://t.co/dXbVHGJs39
@MagnusPalmblad @GarciaLabMS I do like baseball analogies for thinking about wrapping up projects too. Home runs (high IF pub) valuable, but consistent base hits are easily underestimated individually, but have cumulative impact a la Moneyball
@RitaObeid6@AcademicChatter Classic advice from @Calnewport_ to chunk checking email and not disrupt flow with pings. Can also use VIP contacts in iPhone Mail app (probably similar if Android) and set different notification priority for those.
We know HSF1 is critical in many cancers. Here we find that HSF2 is also involved in this HSF cancer program! Not our first paper, but our first lab project. Amazing work by @Roger5mith (@NUMSTP) and @SeeshaTakagishi (now at UCSF). https://t.co/E6QqOP7CSN
@pdhsu@Calnewport_ has some thoughts probably. Time blocking and saving your best times of day as uninterruptible. Often times this starts with educating those around you about the boundary you need. @Y_Gilad is a master as well
Excited to share work from my time @sloan_kettering
with @MLadanyi, Romel Somwar, @Odintsov_I et al. We develop new pt. derived models of DSRCT, identify activated EGFR signaling, and validate the therapeutic potential of targeting this axis in PDX models! https://t.co/E60AWag0QY
