#Sooners pitcher LJ Mercurius said that the team started a Bible study in the midst of their midseason skid.
Mercurius said around 20 guys showed up.
“We just kept our faith.”
Teach us to realize the brevity of life,
so that we may grow in wisdom.
-Psalms 90:12
Powerful words from Moses!
Our dreams won’t be delivered to us in an Amazon package, get up & go after them today.
Talk about BELIEVE…I want to believe like this!
June 6, 1944 D-DAY
Photo called "Into the Jaws of Death" taken on this day in 1944.
36 men, on the initial storming into the water at Omaha Beach in Normandy.
100 pound backpacks.
Rough seas.
Shores were mined…barbed wire hidden.
Germans shooting from bluffs on high.
Began planning for attack one year earlier in 1943.
The weather on the day selected for D-Day was not ideal, and the operation had to be delayed 24 hours; a further postponement would have meant a delay of at least two weeks, as the planners had requirements for the phase of the moon, the tides, and time of day, that meant only a few days each month were deemed suitable.
Allied casualties were at least 10,000, with 4,414 confirmed dead.
How do you believe at that level? To stare death in the face and still believe.
To BELIEVE like this, it has to become personal! And this mission was personally anchored deep within these soldier’s hearts and souls.
The sacrifice is hard to fathom…the appreciation for them must be amplified!
For those that battled, served, and believed the best was yet to come, even if they knew they would never see it…THANK YOU!
To the faithful you show yourself faithful;
to those with integrity you show integrity.

Using a dull ax requires great strength,
so sharpen the blade.
That’s the value of wisdom;
it helps you succeed.
-Ecclesiastes 10:10 NLT
Who are the men in your life that help keep your blade sharp?🗡️

He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.

We can’t give away what we don’t possess.
So if you ain’t got it, go get it!

“Don’t chase perfection. You want to be in an environment in your mind where I’m going to create great habits that lead to a high level of performance and a high level of consistency,” @CoachVenables
The daily habits of a winner reveal their character.
And after the earthquake there was a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper.
- 1 Kings 19:12
And to hear a whisper, we have to be close to the One speaking.

But God had mercy on me so that Christ Jesus could use me as a prime example of his great patience…

As in with Paul, He spared me for others’ sake.

What can we ever say to such wonderful things as these? If God is on our side, who can ever be against us?

The deck is stacked. If we don’t quit we win🗡️🛡️
Be dressed for service & keep your lamps burning, as though you were waiting for your master to return from the wedding feast.

The church tells young men to temper their desire.
Be balanced. Don't want too much.
That's not wisdom.
That's fear.
Chase your dream with your hair on fire.
Build it. Risk it. Put everything in.
When you fail, and you will,
God's got you in that, too.
Just watch your health.
Watch your relationships.
Other than that?
Go.
And by his great mercy we have been born again, that God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation.

A prudent person foresees danger and takes precautions.
The simpleton goes blindly on and suffers the consequences.

Barreling into the same messes?
Pause, and let the Holy Spirit dictate your next move.
Brad Underwood waited 26 years for a Div 1 head coaching job. Yes, he spent 26 years coaching high school, JUCO, and assisting.
At 49 years old he was hired to coach SF Austin. At 53 he was hired by Illinois. He finally reached the Final Four after turning 60.
The point: Sometimes if you truly want to be great you have to pay your dues. You have to stay the course and trust the process.
We want microwaved success so badly. There are 20-30 year olds mulling over quitting the profession because it isn’t happening fast enough. You gotta understand that a high level coaching career is earned, not given.
Congrats to Coach Underwood for sticking with the dream. He did what a lot can’t do: he waited. And he was rightfully rewarded.
Come close to God, and God will come close to you.
