Young grinder I really appreciate the post. It means a lot.
I'm just a normal kid that worked hard and got really lucky.
Just know they'll never see the 500+ days locked in a room going to the 24h gym at 4am, no friends, no sex, no sleep.
They weren't in the discord in 2017 learning everything they could about trading perpetual swaps.
They weren't there seeing a friend pass away due to losing it all during the Covid crash. You're nursing a -80% drawdown but you have to be there for family.
They weren't there when you're net worth negative if you lose a few more coinflips post FTX.
But they'll all have an opinion when you make it.
ENDURE EVERYTHING AND ALL GLORY TO GOD.
This is also why I'm barely on socials at the moment. A lot of the people who are here constantly seem to be waiting for a dynamic that only exists in a bull market.
These slow phases are the best time to go back to the evergreen stuff and do research. The boring basics, the things that actually matter once the market comes back.
Nothing about that work is exciting, which is exactly why most people skip it and keep doomscrolling on Twitter.
In 2022 I was all in on crypto and lost everything I had. Someone told me something along the lines of:
If the money you lost was something you earned, you'll make it all back. If you can't, it was just luck, and it wasn't yours to begin with.
Like so many others at the time, I anchored my identity to a peak bull run NW, something handed to me by the market gods, completely unrelated to my skill as a trader.
If you're constantly taking outsized risks, you need to detach yourself from your NW, because it's a reflection of the randomness of markets. And if that's the case, if and wealth came from the dice rolling in your favour, how can you be angry the next time they roll against you?
Accepting this, I made it all back, and so did countless others. The guys that couldn't accept their loss, because they couldn't accept that what they lost was never theirs to begin with, never made it back. Worse yet, the ones that didn't deserve it but didn't lose it all in 2022 suffered the most, bleeding themselves to death slowly because they never got that wake-up call.
The lesson here is that Flood is 100% right. It may seem harsh, but markets are ruthless and some people need to hear these things. If you lost it all, find comfort knowing that if you truly earned what you had, this is just a temporary setback. And if you cannot, the money was never yours, and you never really lost anything.
NEW: malware developers added nuclear & biological weapons text to to their spyware.
Goal? To trigger LLM safety refusals... so that their spyware wouldn't be analyzed by an AI security scanner.
Cleanest practical example I can think of for why over-indexing on first order safety alignment is risky.
When closed (and open) models ship with aggressive refusals, they will be sprinkled with second-order blindspots that attackers will discover...and exploit.
We are only in the earliest days of attackers leveraging these features, and it wouldn't surprise me if users systems that need to handle complex cybersecurity issues demand that models be less safety-blunted.
In the weeds: @SocketSecurity's post also shows why intention matters in how you design a malware analysis pipeline to avoid prompt manipulation.
H/T to colleagues that shared this with me https://t.co/f3Aj9TYxU4
“I’m buying spot Anthropic on the Solana blockchain” has to be one of the funniest phrases I’ve heard this week.
There is nothing spot about this.
Brother you are 4 layers of financial abstraction and broker crime away from touching an actual Anthropic share certificate.
Your “spot” position is a tokenized receipt for possible future economic exposure to a Cayman SPV that owns shares in another Delaware SPV that maybe owns rights to future equity pending transfer approval.
You are approximately Anthropic-adjacent at best
