Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.
Youth comes but once in a lifetime. Stay foolish Stay hungry.
The technology itself isn’t what I fear most.
I fear a small group of people controlling it. The more powerful AI becomes, the more dangerous that concentration of power becomes.
Human history gives us plenty of reasons to be skeptical of unchecked power.
AI isn’t going away. Barring unprecedented global government coordination, it isn’t even slowing down.
The only real decision is whether to centralize power, or disperse it.
Do you fear the technology? Or a small number of people controlling the technology?
I can't believe this -- wikipedia is experiencing crisis.
Wikimedia itself says human pageviews had fallen roughly 8% year-over-year in the period it analyzed, and it explicitly attributed much of the decline to generative AI.
There is a paradox that AI makes Wikipedia more important while making Wiki itself less visited.
So, in conclusion, Wikipedia could become the infrastructure for the AI while simultaneously losing the direct human attention that historically paid for and maintained that infrastructure.
Nike stopped being Nike.
High school me still remembers: their shoes felt insanely expensive -- and people still wanted them, because they sold winning, not belonging. Such as "Not for sales" that is a classic marketing product. 😅
Then the ads swapped elite athletes for “body-positive” models and social messaging. The brand drifted from performance to preaching.
The chart is what happened next.
Did they lose the customers who actually bought the shoes, or is this just bad timing?
I resigned from Anthropic today. I spent the last three years doing pretraining research at both OpenAI and Anthropic. Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing straight to self-improving superintelligence and gambling with our lives. More thoughts below.
How to Ruin your life without even realizing it:
Be inconsistent.
Today, decide to learn a new language.
Tomorrow, start going to the gym.
Then want to become a content creator.
Always chase whatever feels new and exciting.
Never give anything enough time to compound.
Change your goals every few months and call it “exploring.”
You don’t need to make one terrible decision to ruin your life. Just keep changing direction before your effort has time to compound.
@haz3rbageax@thsottiaux I also found that. Maybe it is related to new model gpt 5.6? Firstly, I met the "many request" issue, and then I found the usage did't decrease even though I'm continuously coding.
