I've revived my blog, Not You Will, which covers all things Shakespeare, stage and pop culture. The resurrection begins with my review of @JamieLloydCo's Alien-inflected production of The Tempest @TheatreRoyalDL, starring Sigourney Weaver as Prospero. https://t.co/F7f95QnKvq
Inspired start to the new @NYULondon term yesterday with a visit to @The_Globe to see The Comedy of Errors. It's my favourite Globe production in ages. Fleet of foot, easy to follow, full of brilliant clowning and slapstick, and great use of the audience. Highly recommended!
At #edfringe2024 until the 15th and writing a Shakespeare roundup review for @CahiersE. If you’ve seen or are in any Shakespeare plays or adaptations I should cover, please let me know! My top tip so far is @srblythe and @ElfLyons’ brilliant one-man Hamlet at @AssemblyRoxy.
Had an absolutely brilliant time discussing #Shakespeare's Players at #BSA2024 So many interesting threads - the conversations we've started are likely to continue through the rest of the conference and beyond
Thrilled to say that I was nominated for an Arts Faculty Award for Teaching Excellence this year by the wonderful students at @TheatreWarwick and @EnglishWarwick and overjoyed that I was in stellar company of @Farnellian and Dr Freya Veylander. This is why we do what we do!
Starting the week with some excellent news. In this year’s @uniofwarwick Awards for Teaching Excellence, our staff claimed the two top spots in the Arts Faculty category! @Farnellian was highly commended, and Dr Freya Verlander was the overall winner. Congratulations, both!
Excited to be co-running the seminar "Abridging Shakespeare for the British and American Stage" with @ImpromptuShakes's Rebecca Macmillan and @tomdwilko next year at @SAAupdates in Boston. All submissions from scholar-practitioners, academics and artists alike welcome! #Shax2025
Coriolanus in the Olivier Theatre / Sept 2024
Warrior. Hero. Traitor.
David Oyelowo is Coriolanus in Lyndsey Turner’s thrilling new production of Shakespeare’s timeless political tragedy.
With set designed by Es Devlin.
@Ben_Broadribb@RebekahAnnKing@DrBenPoore @DavidPattie @notrockyhorror@SteveTPurcell Definitely interested. I've taught The Understudy episode (paired with Rupert Goold's Macbeth) on an Adapting Shakespeare course for the past few years, so potentially interested in a pedagogy angle. Let me know!
