@GamerEMDoc Maybe they should go the sports analytics route. Predicted board pass rate of entering residents (based on their prior board scores) posted with the actual board pass rate. Publishable only after you accumulate 5 years of data. Can be an indirect marker of teaching quality
1/ On How Short Life Is
A few years ago, I was walking around in a blizzard in SoHo (New York). It was late, midnight, and it was beautiful.
Some friends, about 15 blocks away, called: "come over?"
It was late, it was cold, was tired, thought "maybe not worth it" but then...
@ParisPriceMD Funny this applicant "knows" they have a more competitive SLOE when they're blinded to the content. Students, remember that a rotation grade (often heavily weighed by grades) doesnt 100% translate to the SLOE.. especially if ure smart but with some poor behavioral traits
All jokes aside, idk if Im ready for the highs and lows of this week. Like its AMAZING to see people Ive gotten to help match, especially at their dream programs. But it is also AWFUL to watch someone go unmatched. 1/8

This car pulled up to a 4 way stop just after me the other morning. On my left. As I pulled out, they did, too.
We nearly collided.
After a brief pause, I continued. Moments later, the driver swooped alongside me, extended an arm over the passenger seat, & flipped me off.
@DavidAMWilson Something simple like quizzed maybe. The act can be done respectfully. In similar respect, a phrase I'm trying to get out of habit is "pull the trigger" for decision making
After three appearances on @Msnbc and @CNN yesterday, I woke up to this in my inbox. I debated whether I should share it publicly and then I decided that I should because I didn’t want to carry the burden.
Our EM Chief Residents made this hilarious video for our @BaystateEM https://t.co/FKYUv5fpue recruitment page. Where is Baystate anyways?!? Click to find out. https://t.co/l9xpMQsvVC

Something happened. That wasn't supposed to happen.
Or rather.
Something didn't happen. That was supposed to happen.
Eyes wide like saucers, they told me. Tears glistened in their eyes.
Them: "I made a #medicalerror."
Me: *listening*
They were accountable. They were.

#PerspectiveintheTimeofCOVID
I am squatting in a corner with my hands over my ears.
Noise. It is too much noise.
About us. About me.
Because us is me.
It is inescapable.
So much noise.
Make it stop.

Residency Interview, Circa 1995
Him: “You say here in your #PERSONALSTATEMENT ‘Research is the linchpin of a thriving academic medical center.’”
Me: *smug smile*
Him: “Tell me what you meant by that.”
Me: 😳
Rut roh.
Real talk? I just wanted to use the word “linchpin.”
Not a shift goes by that I don’t use UpToDate. Thanks to Dr. Bud Rose, its visionary creator, who died on Friday from complications of COVID-19 https://t.co/kq0qhOGoYS
