The Sarvasya Aarogyam edition of Vigyan Dhara highlights the commitment of India to advancing the One Health approach by recognising the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health.

The chapter, "From Blueprint to Breakthrough: India's National One Health Mission Comes Alive," highlights how the National One Health Mission is transforming vision into action through integrated disease surveillance, joint outbreak response, research, and pandemic preparedness.

From establishing a national network of BSL-3 laboratories and conducting large-scale outbreak simulation exercises to developing AI-enabled information systems and strengthening coordination from the national to the grassroots level, it marks a significant shift from reactive response to preventive preparedness.

To advance #OneHealth, State and Union Territory (UT) governments play a pivotal role; their responsibilities include contextualising national policies, facilitating interdepartmental coordination, and implementing programs at the grassroot level.

The first State & UT Engagement Workshop under #NOHM deliberated on implementation challenges, particularly governance fragmentation, data sharing constraints, and capacity needs. These insights reaffirmed the importance of establishing clear, sustainable governance structures at the State/UT level.

To address this, the Ofiice of @PrinSciAdvGoI conceptualised a ‘model governance framework for strengthening the One Health approach in States and UTs’. The objective of the document is to provide a flexible governance framework that enables States/UTs to adopt and operationalise an effective One Health coordination mechanism.
