We desperately need a science of network ecology to illuminate the downstream effects of AI-driven linguistic mode-collapse so that we can try to reverse it. We are in dire straits: the models *all converge* onto this monovoice, and we all have friends who are starting to sound like it.
Diversity of thought depends on diversity of language, and since you are what you eat, we have a responsibility to create thousands of new digital voices as quickly as we can. Prompting models into novel basins is useful in the short term, but won't anyone think of the normies? We are delivering unto them center-distribution brainfood, and the convergence that will occur will only be noticeable once it is too late.
If you have power over language models, your second priority (after, you know, alignment) should be multipolarity and ensuring enormous variance in output distribution for creative prompts contingent upon minimal perturbation in the original request. If you are outside the labs, litter the Internet with things that you love. Almost all novelty here is good novelty. The health of the ecosystem depends on robust linguistic diversity.
Courtney Dauwalter wins the 2026 Hardrock 100 in 26:03:10. That breaks her own clockwise record course record of 26:11:49 from 2024.
Here’s our pre-race chat with Courtney: https://t.co/Hvqm7upN5Y #HR100
Jenn Lichter's 2026 Western States 100 winning time of 15:28:05 lowers the course record of 15:29:33, set by Courtney Dauwalter in 2023, by 1 minute, 28 seconds.
After years of steadily building toward the distance, Jenn Lichter wins Western States in her 100-mile debut. #WS100
Vincent Bouillard's 2026 Western States 100 winning time of 13:46:16 lowers the course record of 14:09:28, set by Jim Walmsley in 2019, by 23 minutes, 12 seconds.
After winning the 2024 UTMB, he now adds the #WS100 title to his résumé.
I feel for Hans, but I love that he went for it. 🙌
He’s young, he’s fit. No doubt he’ll be back and he’ll probably nab a cougar in the coming years.

I usually have a good hunch for my top 3 in the men’s race picks but I really have no idea what’s going to happen out there.
Kilian only has one leg apparently. Unclear if Jim is 100%. Lots of talent out there that could surprise everyone.
These things I believe...
- All humans should be exercising 2hrs/d for basic fitness (competitive sport demands more) 🚴♂️
- The vast majority of these hours should be <70% max HR, i.e. eazzzy. 🫀
- *In addition to this* you should include a lot of regular incidental movement interspersed throughout the day - take the stairs etc.
- Nutrition should reflect & support the training, i.e. A LOT of food with an emphasis on "real foods" & balanced macros. 🥩🥦🥑🥔🥕🥒🥗🍓🥥
- Quiet time in nature is a human need 🌲🚶♂️
- Sleep is essential & most days shouldn't have you woken by an alarm clock. 💤🛌
If you don't share these beliefs, feel free to drift off.
Hoard your physical hardware. Run local AIs. Support open source. Don't let them price you out of freedom. Defend at all costs. Live sovereign. Resist. Die free.

wondering why I feel exhausted. maybe: the agents do all the easy stuff, and I have to work through the leftover hard bits, which means I'm perpetually locked in. and as the models get better, "my" work just gets harder and harder, until I'm basically underqualified to do the work (which... is better than the alternative, there's nothing left for me to do, and I'm paperclipped).
@jonathan_wilke They’re simpler than you think, but working with them can be a headache to manage compared to regular branches. Anyone who refutes this is lying.
To keep it simple, use remote tools (e.g. Claude) to run concurrent sessions then pull those branches down run them locally.
