Misleading/over-hype isn't even always about directly selling a product. I still think about this example of Google describing an open-source library for recognizing gene mutations in a way that was so misleading that a Johns Hopkins Prof wrote an article rebutting it.
We've got a new logo!
Thanks @indeed for sponsoring the creation of the new logo.
And thanks @matplotlib for generating our old logo for more than 10 years (yes, the old logo was generated with a simple Matplotlib script).
Our research team is using graph neural networks to predict the olfactory properties of molecules, expanding our understanding of smell & odor, with potential applications ranging from odorant synthesis to scent digitization. Learn more at https://t.co/eUK1j0rf1x
In 2012, a physicist in California appealed against a speeding ticket by publishing a paper showing exactly why the laws of physics meant he couldn’t have been speeding. The judge read the paper and let him off.

Great quote from @Snowden on @joerogan: “we are forced today to live naked before power.” Whether that’s Facebook or Google or the government. They know everything.
I'm very excited to see the @GoogleAI quantum computing research team achieve this early milestone! It's an initial-but-important step along the way towards practical real-world applications of quantum computing. Congrats to the whole team!

In our final #TWIMLcon panel, we bring you a group that may not have fulfilled their childhood dreams, but still know a ton about AI ethics. Hear from @math_rachel, Guillaume St-Jacques (@LinkedIn), and @PariAIML, moderated by @kharijohnson. https://t.co/J1nlneqSLh
Today we describe prime editing, a very versatile new approach to genome editing in human cells without cutting the DNA double helix. We integrated a reverse transcriptase with a disabled CRISPR enzyme to copy virtually any edit from an engineered guide RNA into a target site...
ICYMI: Topology — a branch of math used to describe invariant properties of shapes like toruses — is being used by condensed matter physicists to classify all possible phases of matter.
