@ZavCorin@jnordvig Melenchon’s rejection rate is the highest of all french politicians. Now, chances of Glucksmann making it to the run off are 0 and unless right wing candidates agree to a primary, I don’t see how MLP loses this election. OAT spreads have priced it sooner than prediction markets.
@realKunalAShah Or as Jim Carville said “I used to think that if there was reincarnation, I wanted to come back as the president or the pope or as a .400 baseball hitter. But now I would like to come back as the bond market. You can intimidate everybody.” ;-)
@realKunalAShah True but that’s the very opposite of RN’s economic policy stance. Let alone LFI’s which would be disastrous. France has a deep rooted Keneysian tradition of interventionism and one can expect major push back from unions and public opinion… as a french man I hope you’re right!
@michaelxpettis Financial services in general are not highly productive businesses and their social utility is debatable but how many NHS’s nurses salary can you pay with Rokos’ tax bill. Beyond tax revenues loss, which is here very substantial, how about Rokos staff spending locally?
@gnoble79 Of course! incompetent HF managers raise several billions AUM at launch… Also Soros is known for seeding lousy macro PMs with billions of his own capital…
@WinderKit This is pointless in nominal terms…The fall of LTCM had a far greater impact on the global banking system and financial markets than any other trading loss in history.
@strikerglows@dieworkwear You obviously have no idea what you’re talking about… sprezzatura has nothing to do with price, craftsmanship and who’s wearing what. Go to a small town bar in Piemonte after the Sunday service and you’ll see what it means. This outfit looks terrible especially in Summer…
@ludovic_subran Mais s’agit-il de resoudre le rechauffement climatique?
Les benefices sanitaires et socio-economiques depassent largement notre petit confort bourgeois quelques semaines par an. LKY, visionnaire, un des plus grand dirigeant du 20e siecle l’avait compris…
Lee Kuan Yew:
“Air conditioning was a most important invention for us, perhaps one of the signal inventions of history. It changed the nature of civilization by making development possible in the tropics. Without air conditioning you can work only in the cool early-morning hours or at dusk. The first thing I did upon becoming prime minister was to install air conditioners in buildings where the civil service worked. This was key to public efficiency."
@macrocephalopod@mean_field_zane Their equity risk arb, equity vol and directional macro bets contributed to the spillover of the crisis. Unwinding these positions coupled with massive leverage globalized the crisis and extended to Fixed Income RV. If no bank agrees to make you a market you’re dead anyway…
