A major relief for Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs) in India and abroad! ✅

Representatives from @aimsa_fmsw and @official_afa held a meeting with the Secretary and officials of the @NMC_BHARAT regarding the notice issued on 06-03-2026. During the meeting, they raised and discussed in detail the concerns and difficulties faced by FMGs due to the recent notification.

Our representatives strongly conveyed the demand to revise the notice. As per the verbal discussion with officials, the NMC has shown willingness to consider modifying the relevant points in the notice in response to the issues raised by FMGs.

This development brings significant hope and relief to FMGs across India and abroad.

NMC continues to release new & inconsistent guidelines for FMG students—sometimes a 2-year internship, sometimes compensation for online classes. Even after clearing FMGE, internship seats remain scarce. If studying abroad is an accepted pathway, the rules must be stable!

Final year studies were completed offline with internship at the university/college.

Strange irony:
Negative marks in NEET-PG can still fetch a PG seat, but doctors who clear FMGE are constantly burdened with new guidelines and restrictions.
Merit should be judged equally.

A candidate with 4/800 is eligible for MS orthopedics seat but FMGE qualified (minimum 150/300 marks) candidates are not considered suitable for Indian medical system as they have done some part of their studies online during (pandemic or war). What a joke… @official_afa_

A candidate with –40 marks in Neetpg can become a specialist doctor in this country, yet Foreign Medical Graduates who have already compensated for their online classes, cleared the FMGE and are diligently completing internships are being burdened with new superimposed guidelines every single year since COVID.

The irony is undeniable: COVID struck in 2020–21, but even today @NMC_BHARAT continues to publish guidelines citing “COVID online classes” as if the pandemic were ongoing. This is not regulation it is harassment on FMGs.

Today, representatives from AFA and @FordaIndia had a meeting with officials from the National Medical Commission (NMC). We discussed various issues related to Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs) and presented our concerns to Dr. Vanikar mam and the NMC bench.
All our matters was heard properly and we got assurance regarding the same.

@NMC_IND has not yet responded to the request for allowing non-teaching hospitals for internships, despite the shortage of seats in multiple states. DMC(@GirishTyagiDMC) has sent another letter today.
Approximately 40 FMGs visited @NMC_IND again yesterday to discuss the allowance of non-teaching hospitals. There seems to be ongoing resistance towards FMGs. It's been three months, and FMGs are still waiting for their internships to begin.

Why is @NMC_IND ignoring FMGs? It's been 3 years, and FMGs are still facing challenges even after passing FMGE, And now they have to do multiple years of internship, It's ironic that there are NO INTERNSHIP SEATS available in many states. Even after reaching out to @NMC_IND (Dr. ARUNA VANIKAR MAM) , there has been no progress. FMGE results were out in February, but FMGs are still waiting to start their internship.

Many states seem to be facing uncertainty due to the NMC's notice, creating difficulties for FMGs during their internships. It would be greatly appreciated if the @NMC_IND could provide clear instructions or release a FAQ to address their concerns.

Numerous eligibility certificates are pending at @NMC_IND for months, preventing FMGs from taking their exams. NMC should streamline this process as well.
We request @NMC_IND @dryogendermalik sir to help FMGs in this regard and allow non teaching hospitals for internship.

Despite clear notices by @NMC_IND and the Honorable Supreme Court recently, many states are still not providing stipends to FMGs. This issue extends beyond stipends, as FMGs are also required to complete 2-3 years of internship.
We Need immediate action on this issue.

I humbly bring this matter to your attention. It encompasses not only 3 years of struggle but a total of 6+3 years. Furthermore, the delayed internship allotment for FMGs extends the MBBS duration to 10-11 years. Do you think this is fair? Kindly remove this 3year clerkship+internship rule for FMGs. 🙏
