Earlier this year the government was found guilty of not meeting their legally binding net zero agreements. Yet my friends are in prison for demanding the government do what all experts advise to avert complete climate catastrophe: end all new fossil fuel licences.
‘Like an oilwell in your back yard’: Irish people turn to cutting peat to save on energy bills.
Social justice is climate justice. We can’t have one without the other…… https://t.co/ogtng0BPZ8
Here's the results of the poll I launched yesterday about the future of peat use in the UK. @The_RHS . (PS I promoted it for £25 for get it out beyond my 'echo chamber' of followers) .
We are currently using up 1.7 Earth’s worth of the raw materials for building “renewables” - and are on the way to using 3 by 2050. We will run out of materials before we ever get to an energy transition under current plans. We need less growth and less energy usage.
oh look! it's literally a picture of ecofascism:
men with guns keeping the regular people off the spaceship-ark, while a Titanic-like ship, representing Earth, sinks in the background.
when monsters show you who they are, believe them.
In this great @UNRISD report is a deep truth:
"Today’s extreme inequalities, environmental destruction and vulnerability to crisis are not a flaw in the system, but a feature of it. Only large-scale systemic change can resolve this dire situation.”

When interest rates are low, corporate profits go up. When interest rates are high, corporate profits go up. Growth or recession, corporate profits go up. Early pandemic, mid-pandemic, permanent pandemic, profits up.
This is not just about money: it is driving polycrisis.

@avilewis @NatObserver I love it. Some beautiful rhetoric. You could just substitute UK with Canada and it still makes perfect sense. Although, the healthcare system crisis is arguably more appalling here.
My latest in the @NatObserver:
Everything IS actually broken, and as we descend into manufactured recession...

Also, this has frustrated me for so long. Midlands of course has less funds offered. But... HERTFORDSHIRE IS NOT IN THE MIDLANDS! 🗺️
woodlands dot https://t.co/Jx4EjZc0L1 also have no clue of geography in their listings.
ActionFunder and Crowdfunder both have pots for sports. And London based projects. Trying to grow food and keep communities supported in the Midlands? ❌
Keeping people warm? Councils have money.
Trying to change the system? 😂
