Counter-UAS has become the most crowded corner of defense tech — and one of the least proven. Plenty of systems claim to stop Group 1 threats. Very few actually do.

Today, @9Mothers emerged from stealth with EDDA: a tiny, affordable AI system small and cheap enough to put on every vehicle, every position, every asset — and operators on the ground say it's the only one that's stopped fast Group 1.

That distinction matters. Group 1 suicide drones are among the deadliest threats in modern warfare, and the fast-moving ones are exactly what fielded systems miss.

9 Mothers already has contracts, and has delivered. That's the bar for us — fielded capability, not promising demos.

We backed @rhs, Roman, and Bogdan early because they were the right team to solve exactly this. As a firm of former SOF operators, we've seen this threat up close — and we know the real thing when we see it.

Full circle moment. Today @DragosInc announced the acquisition of @phosphorusinc — a company I was lucky enough to back at seed as my first investment at @rsquaredvc.

When I transitioned out of the Army, Chris Rouland gave me my first real shot in this industry at @EndgameInc. I got to see firsthand what Chris and @earle built there. That chance changed the trajectory of my career.

So when they founded Phosphorus in 2018, I was paying attention. Backing them was one of the easiest calls I’ve ever made. You back people you’ve seen build before.

Science has won the iF Design Award 2026 for Product Design in the Medical/Healthcare category for the Axon Terminal, part of the Science Ecosystem. Science partnered with the design firm @Card_79 on the project.

The independent jury describes Axon Terminal as “a portable neural signal simulator, like an ‘MP3 player for neural data.’ It enables researchers to load, browse, and play pre-recorded neural signals, offering a precise yet approachable interface for neuroscience experimentation. Its unique form feels familiar like consumer tech, yet purpose-built for scientific rigor. By uniting ergonomic hardware, clear feedback, and durable construction, the Axon Terminal bridges advanced neural technology with human-centered usability—delivering clarity, comfort, and confidence in every interaction.”
