I took some time to review the White Paper published by the TVK Govt on the state of Tamil Nadu's finances.

No surprises, as most of it was already known. In many ways, it serves as a post-mortem of the State’s fiscal mismanagement over the past five years, laying bare the extent of the deterioration and benchmarking Tamil Nadu’s key financial indicators against those of other similarly industrialised states.

-₹10 Lakh crore outstanding debt & per capita outstanding debt at ₹1,28,934
-Interest payments at 22.8% of total revenue receipts.
-State’s own tax revenue (SoTR) to GSDP ratio fell from 5.93% in 2021-22 to 5.45% in 2025-26.
-Major State PSUs in power, transport, and civil supplies hold a combined debt of ₹3.18 lakh crore.
-Revenue loss due to systemic corruption, suppressing registration revenues by undervaluing real estate prices and many more.

The shrinking working-age population in TN by 2031 leaves the state with very little time to recover and strengthen its revenue base. This is a serious issue!

The TVK Govt, therefore, has very little time at its disposal and must not treat this White Paper as an excuse for non-performance; instead, it should explore ways to repair the damage done. I propose that the government form a “functional” consultation group that includes not only academicians and economists but also experts from all fronts to find constructive ways to mitigate the crisis at hand.

சென்னையில், மொத்தம் விற்பனையாகும் சுமார் 14.75 லட்சம் லிட்டர் ஆவின் பாலில், கிட்டத்தட்ட 50%, சுமார் 7.5 லட்சம் லிட்டர் பால் விற்பனை, பச்சை நிற கிரீன் மேஜிக் பாக்கெட் பால் ஆகும்.

இந்த நிலையில், கிரீன் மேஜிக் பால் விற்பனை குறைக்கப்பட்டு, குறைந்த அளவே தற்போது விற்பனைக்கு வழங்கப்படுகிறது என்ற செய்தி அறிந்து, அது குறித்து விசாரித்ததில், ஏற்கனவே சுமார் 50% விற்பனை குறைக்கப்பட்டிருப்பதாகவும், படிப்படியாக, கிரீன் மேஜிக் வகை பால் விற்பனை நிறுத்தப்படவுள்ளதாகவும், ஆவின் விற்பனை மையங்களிலேயே கூறுகின்றனர்.

ஆனால், தவெக அரசு தற்போது வெளியிட்டிருக்கும் செய்தி வெளியீட்டில், கிரீன் மேஜிக் பால் விற்பனை குறைக்கப்படவில்லை என்று கூறப்பட்டிருக்கிறது. அப்படியானால், ஏன் ஆவின் மையங்களில் முன்பு போல அது கிடைப்பதில்லை? கிரீன் மேஜிக் வகை பால் விற்பனை கணிசமாகக் குறைந்துள்ளதை பொதுமக்களே அறிவார்கள். யாரை ஏமாற்ற இந்த பொய்யான விளக்கத்தை அளிக்கிறது தவெக அரசு?

கடந்த 2023 ஆம் ஆண்டு திமுக ஆட்சியிலும் இதே போல, 4.5% கொழுப்புச் சத்துள்ள பச்சை நிற பாக்கெட் பால் விற்பனையை நிறுத்தி விட்டு, 3.5% கொழுப்பு சத்துள்ள ஊதா நிற பாக்கெட் பால் விற்பனை செய்ய முடிவெடுத்த போது, எதிர்க்கட்சிகள் எதிர்ப்பால் அந்த முடிவை திமுக அரசு கைவிட்டது. ஆனால், தற்போதைய தவெக அரசும் அதே முடிவை மக்களிடம் திணிப்பது, வன்மையாகக் கண்டிக்கத்தக்கது.

கிரீன் மேஜிக் வகை பால் விற்பனை குறைப்புக்கு, நிதி இழப்பைக் காரணமாகக் கூறுகிறார்கள். நிதி இழப்பைச் சரி செய்ய, பால் உற்பத்தியையும், பால் மற்றும் பால் பொருள்கள் விற்பனையையும் அதிகரித்து, அதன் மூலம் நிதி இழப்பைக் கட்டுப்படுத்தும் நடவடிக்கைகளில் ஈடுபட வேண்டுமே தவிர, ஏழை எளிய மக்கள் அதிகம் பயன்படுத்தும் பால் வகை விற்பனையை நிறுத்தக் கூடாது.

உடனடியாக, மீண்டும் போதுமான அளவு, பச்சை நிற கிரீன் மேஜிக் பாக்கெட் பால் விற்பனையைக் கொண்டு வர வேண்டும் என்றும், பால் உற்பத்தி, கொள்முதல் மற்றும் விற்பனை உள்ளிட்டவற்றை அதிகரிக்கும் நடவடிக்கைகளில் ஈடுபட வேண்டும் என்றும் தவெக அரசை வலியுறுத்துகிறேன்.

நெதர்லாந்து அரசுக்கும், குறிப்பாக 19-ஆம் நூற்றாண்டின் இடைப்பட்ட காலத்தில் இருந்து செப்பேடுகளைப் பாதுகாத்து வந்த லெய்டன் பல்கலைக்கழகத்திற்கும் எனது நன்றியைத் தெரிவித்துக் கொள்கிறேன்.

In Tamil Nadu, the BJP being in power at the centre has been used by essentially all the parties to demonize them. The DMK made "attack Modi" as their only plank. EdappadiDMK (that is the correct name) would have done the same thing if the Congress had switched over to them. In Tamil, we call this பூச்சாண்டி காட்டுதல் - like my grandmother would tell me as a kid "that tree next to the pond has a ghost that will catch you, so don't go near it" to keep me away from swimming in the pond! Modi is their favorite பூச்சாண்டி.

So when someone parrots the line "we want to keep the BJP out of Tamil Nadu", they are saying "we don't want competition for our cozy duopoly", not some deep principle. The BJP has been in alliance in AP and Pondicherry and those states are doing fine, they are making excellent progress. Yet TN is supposedly "different".

The "difference" was the BJP getting into alliance with these same parties (EDMK or DMK) that want to openly or secretly suppress them in TN.

What is the way ahead? Find good youthful passionate leadership that are willing to fight the good fight long term. Focus on building up the party from the grassroots. Ignore all the பூச்சாண்டி business. Do not align with anyone who claims "TN is different". TN is Bharat. We have to fight this subterranean separatism.

Annamalai was making progress but he needed a lot more time. He was creating a genuine political movement, he invited youth to be active in politics and he had massive engagement.

I would have volunteered for this assignment too (I love building up from zero!) but I am neck deep in tech and Bharat needs deep tech. So not in this life time. To be very clear, I will state my political views (my right to free speech) but I will not be in active politics.

I hope all our educated citizens do engage in this political debate and express their opinions, but let us all do it RESPECTFULLY.
