Easy recovery miles on Global Running Day. It was mid-40s this morning but in the 80s this afternoon and supposed to be close to 90 the next several days. VA weather can be wild!
For Global Running Day, here’s a throwback all the way to 2008 with a pic from one of my first races as part of the Brooks ID Athlete Program. Running has been a huge part of my life since college, and needless to say, I’ve been at it for a while with no plans on ever stopping!
Some mornings you just have to embrace the grind, and this was one of those. Did 6/5/6/5/6 min at threshold with 90 sec jogs, and while I felt like I was just going through the motions, it actually didn’t go too bad.
May was a good one! Most mileage I’ve done in a month in quite a while. My old college coach used to say that the 3 keys to racing fast in the fall were Jun, July, and Aug, so hopefully this was a prelude to a solid summer of work!
Kicked the week (and month) off with 65 min at a fairly relaxed effort plus 6X20/60 strides. Felt warmer than it was, but I guess it’s about that time of year.
First run in the Nike Vomero Plus this morning. Initial take is it’s a lot of shoe, but I think it will work out pretty well for these slogger recovery days like today, especially since I got it with saving these old man legs in mind.
75 min on the struggle bus this morning. 4X8 min with 2.5 rec, and my legs just had nothing from the start. The only positive was sticking with it and seeing the whole workout through. Oh, and my Canes are headed to the Stanley Cup Finals! 😁
Mother Nature got an A+ on the weather this morning. Not too chilly, not too warm, low humidity = Goldilocks! Factor in I had an easy recovery run on the schedule, and that’s an enjoyable time on the roads.
A little multitasking this morning thanks to the humidity because I felt like I got my sauna and run done at the same time. Lost just over 3 lbs. 🥵 Not ready for full on summer training yet, but since May has flown by and it’s almost June, it’s about that time.
