Wow, Carmack just describes a programming system that matches Goose almost exactly. Address space reservation for huge stacks with safe lifetime management.
hey internet, this is really important --> #php2shell gives attackers remote code execution on PHP servers pre-authentication, and @fastly has seen active attack activity.

Me: "Don't you dare" sounds perfectly normal but "do not you dare" sounds ridiculous which is insane because "don't" is a contraction for "do not."

This is one of the dependency philosophies I covered in this talk, and I think more teams should do it!
When I was onstage, I asked how many people in the audience do this, and only one person raised their hand: Andrew Kelley, creator of @ziglang.

@water2088 This is not only practical, it's basically the use case Roc is designed around. 😄
I'd recommend saying hi on https://t.co/nYz5JJsNa3 - people can help you try it out for your use case!
BTW I live in NYC now. A lot less time flexible now than I was two years ago what with having a full time job and all, but lemme know if you wanna meet and get coffee or something!
There is no heap, no malloc, no GC, no reference counting, no destructors.
Every value lives on a (address space reserved) data stack the compiler statically assigns. Growing is a pointer bump. Freeing a deeply nested tree is one store when its scope ends.

Run a few agents in parallel, and the filesystem starts to fill up. Branch names accumulate. Somewhere in there are changes you're fairly sure mattered... to someone.

We have a few patch releases lined up, and then we can get to the more exciting improvements that are enabled by having end-to-end types with Acadia databases!
