@ThebestFigen Well the cost of gold was 20.67 (based on one source), approx 705.87 in today’s value. Now, the cost of gold is more than 3x that at over 2000. The cost of making a medal is significantly higher than it was back then just in material costs alone.
@isomatin @tartarusorbust @Mistress_Esme @dudethatsDEJA You’re definitely right it is basically unpaid. Per diem though is supposed to be tax free. It is meant to cover the cost of food without needing to submit receipts. It’s for all the time we spend away from home whether it is a single day or overnight.
@sincerelymoth@vinsooch@J0ker800 I’m Canadian and I didn’t really know our military was great until about 5 years ago. Canada doesn’t feel the need to boast about it, I guess. We want to help protect lives and we can do that without boasting. My thoughts, of course.
@dainty_chainsaw I used to always vote conservative, mainly because of my family, religion, etc. And I still consider myself fiscally conservative but more socially progressive. It’s a difficult place to be because they rarely work together.
@TimHortons You have the worst customer service. Thanks but I will go somewhere that treats it’s customers better and has better food, drinks, and options.
@bigblu54 @Ian_Hosler I didn’t know even know this was named after someone. Just thought it was a random name. So maybe the history was lost before the name change and that’s probably a good thing.
@TheOriginalLeeP @need_tums_now She was out of line. Employees don’t owe loyalty to companies that don’t offer it. She let go of two employees instead of hiring one of them full time? Where’s the loyalty? Also we’re they keeping the withheld tips for themselves? OP was polite and offered two weeks notice.
@j_aja4@nancy031@DrJaredWesley It’s this kind of all or nothing mindset that gets us nowhere. Considering how the vaccine doesn’t stop you, not 100%, from getting covid but will reduce the severity of it if you get it, it sounds entirely plausible that you can transmit to others. And then to suggest they’ll
@grannycindy57 @_SuccessForAll_ @RachelNotley I’m unaware of the FOIP issues. The other part, her MLA’s are responsible for themselves. She didn’t get to decide if they were elected. And a brief look into it shows that it happened outside of the workplace. While still horrible, it was unrelated to their dealings as MLAs.
@CamLangAuthor@RachelNotley You commenting on this will ensure that similar things like this will show up in the future. Shouldn’t have engaged at all my good fellow. Now they know how to trap you!
@grannycindy57 @_SuccessForAll_ @RachelNotley MLAs are responsible for what their staff do on their behalf just as much as they are responsible for what they do themselves. And it isn’t a big leap to assume that someone who doesn’t pay attention to details in the small stuff won’t do it for the big stuff either.
