Once millions of these cameras have been merged into a vast centralised surveillance grid, the authorities no longer need to physically follow you. They can simply enter your registration number and reconstruct a detailed map of your life from a database.

AI-powered surveillance cameras are not making communities safer. They are building a digital trail of everyone's movements—one licence plate at a time.

Because a population that can move freely and anonymously is difficult to control. A population whose every journey can be retrieved and retraced at will is not.
