@joshychins@facetedcarapace Also, I know Mila Kunis moved directly from Ukraine to LA, but I’ll die on the hill that SOMEONE from NY/NJ taught her English.
@joshychins@facetedcarapace I studied in Japan and could easily tell where my Japanese friends learned English. They thought I was a physic, but no. Their accents were just raging Australian, Irish, British, etc.
@Brandon_Borders Wait, I thought *our* Orpheum was the only one and got really excited. EVERYONE has an Orpheum??
It's like when you find out your "tri-city area" or "metro" isn't unique to your hometown. 🤯
@selStreams@Duderichy I've been to a few (Pirates of the Caribbean, Star Wars, etc.), and they were incredible. Maybe John Williams and Hans Zimmer are the exceptions, but the performers seemed to be jamming out, too.
@QueenMab87 And as a staunch AI hater, I would love the opportunity to do this. Invite me to be Word Nerds together and hear me babble about the trials and tribulations of how I put something together? YES, PLEASE! Welcome to your own personal TED Talk staring meeeeee!
@MediumSizeMeech The green dress from Atonement and yellow dress from How to Lose a Guy are iconic because they’re the PERFECT colors for Kiera and Kate. If they switch dresses, no one remembers them.
Gen Z just wants to skip to the years of unflattering clothes and go straight to what works.
@sydsofar I agree, but these are influencers trying to make money and find a niche in a very saturated market. They’re not spreading everyday joy for funsies.
@Freerangebison@townbrad@McClain_on_NFL I was going to say that about the A in A&M. A lot of schools offer Ag classes or degrees, and it's not just for kids who want to be farmers. (It appears this specific guy has a construction science background instead, but I'm still claiming agriculture influence in there.)
@smeeglewomp@hellspatisserie Yes! American-raised kids of immigrants won’t get their parents’ accent but they often hold onto non-native phrasing and sentence structure.
I interview these folks occasionally, and it’s not until I read the transcript that the difference really jumps out.
@PalmyrPar@peterrhague The Harry Potter movies (especially the early ones before the kids got better) exist largely on the talent and skill of the older British actors wearing silly robes while giving it 100% commitment.
@TA1297 Someone said this once about a basketball player caught cheating. Basically, some version of “you’re a 6’11” black guy in Minnesota at the club. WE KNOW ITS YOU.”
@polarisquinn@echopraxes I would watch a several-part documentary on these WAG jackets. Like, how do they handle situationships? Does the player have to sign off on WAGness? Who pays for them? Who leads photo shoot/social media rollout coordination??
@Azazello1313@BonifaceOption@L0m3z Definitely. Any athletic, lefty kid goes to pitcher and/or 1B, and any lefty parent definitely isn't buying a special catcher's glove since they can't share.
@wingoz@NFL It’s also why they don’t care if your racist uncle hated Bad Bunny at the Super Bowl. He’s already watching NFL games and will continue to do so no matter what they do.
@gschaef1109@stevemagness Yes. A lot of people confuse “little league” (generic name for kid baseball) with the actual Little League World Series program. The team from my state is hours from 65% of the population. All the good metro kids play USSSA.
