6. Atlas is the Titan from Greek myth, condemned to carry the sky on his shoulders forever – Rand’s stand-in for the producer class, holding up civilization while getting blamed for it.

7. “Shrugged” is the whole argument in one word: Atlas doesn’t fight, doesn’t protest – he just quietly sets the weight down. Nobody realized the sky was being held up by anyone in particular, until the day it isn’t.

It is a classic expression of Trump’s national security doctrine: use overwhelming pressure and credible force to bring adversaries to the table, then cut a deal that serves U.S. interests. In that sense, it is “peace through strength” made concrete, not a slogan. The Camp David analogy fits, but the potential ramifications are broader than Egypt–Israel peace, because this deal touches nuclear risk, global energy, and the financial plumbing of terrorism all at once.

Camp David is the right historical template for the reaction, but not for the punditry now pretending to be shocked. Sadat did not solve the Palestinian question or produce a grand regional settlement. He pulled Egypt out of a ruinous war cycle, recovered Sinai, and left the hardest files for later. For that concrete gain he was branded a traitor by people who had never borne his responsibility and who retroactively demanded a “perfect” peace that had never been on the table. Today’s critics in Washington and on Wall Street are replaying the same script, marking down a real strategic gain against imaginary maximalist alternatives they themselves could never have delivered, and ignoring that it was American military and economic leverage that made the deal possible.

Seen through a Hegelian lens, this is how history actually advances. The coercive “maximum pressure” era was the thesis; Iran’s nuclear acceleration and proxy expansion were the antithesis. The emerging settlement is a tentative synthesis whose core project is simple and radical: turn regimes that behaved as proxies for terrorism into functioning sovereign governments embedded in markets and institutions. That is the logic behind both a post‑Maduro Venezuela and an Iran that earns its way through regulated energy exports, trade, and diplomacy rather than clandestine enrichment and militias, outcomes that only become negotiable when American strength has first reset the balance. Yes, the strategy of Peace Through Strength has delivered. A global peace dividend is emerging.

Voltaire warned that the perfect is the enemy of the good. The real irresponsibility now lies not in signing a deal, but in those who would casually sacrifice a hard‑won synthesis on the altar of their own rhetoric. Camp David removed Egypt from the war system. An Iran deal that locks out the bomb, vindicates peace through strength, and drains the business model of terrorism could reshape even more, if the commentariat’s performative purism is treated with the skepticism it deserves.
