@CanalRiverTrust Maybe you could work with a sympathetic newspaper and do a large article about what you think should happen and how best to tackle the problem? It may ramp up pressure on the EA if you as a big organisation challenged them and the water companies in a robust and constructive way.
England's rivers and lakes are poisoned by sewage. These official numbers prove it - The i Paper @canalrivertrust what pressure are you putting on the water companies? I live by a canal and donate regularly to you. https://t.co/1e3S5sGZxP
@Independent How devastated will the angry members be? Will they call an AGM to remove the people responsible for this or cancel their membership én mass? @ChrisGPackham@Natures_Voice
@Feargal_Sharkey@SouthernWater Should be brought before a relevant Parliamentary committee swiftly to explain this and how much @Southernwater are going to fund to clean this up and how promptly, without charging more to the water bills of it’s consumers.

The innocence in this eye. This is Leah's eye as she laid dead on the side of the Lymington to Hatchet pond road. Leah was a much loved and cared for donkey.
I stayed with her for a while this morning, stroked her and apologised that I hadn't worked hard enough to save her!
I do that at every RTC I attend. Why you may ask?
Because my work should be easier.
'fence the roads, remove all the livestock, get average speed cameras, speed bumps the list goes on'
But there is one FREE, easy, simple and should be logical thing that Everyone can do.
SLOW DOWN AND DRIVE TO THE CONDITIONS. PASS SLOW AND WIDE. GIVE LIVESTOCK SPACE.
We shouldn't be scared to call other drivers out and report them to the police. https://t.co/Sgzto80RGH
Get a dash cam, and if you have one make sure your date and time is correct.
We haven't even hit November yet, and if I'm honest without your help, I may run out of signs.

This is Barnie. For nearly six years, he lived behind the bars of a shelter. No one chose him. Too big, too old, too “plain,” some said. But Barnie never lost hope. And, he never let go of his stuffed monkey, his beloved plush toy that had been patched up by volunteers more times than anyone could count. It wasn’t just a toy—it was his comfort, his friend, the symbol of the home he dreamed of.
Years went by. Puppies were adopted, younger dogs found families. Barnie stayed. Until one day, someone really saw him—saw the kindness in his tired eyes—and decided to take a chance.
Now Barnie is home. Still carrying his toy, but no longer as a source of comfort. He holds it with pride now. As if to say, “I told you someone would love me someday.”
There is someone for everyone. Never give up hope. Hope is a beautiful thing!
What an embarrassment for Britain - and @NationalHways
There are corroded and dishevelled signs like this all over the motorway network. You don’t see this on mainland European motorways (or poor road surfaces and potholes).
Attention all County and District Councils, hotels, clubs and community centres who are organising a firework/bonfire night:

Unlike most mammals, hedgehogs don't have the Fight or Flight Response to danger.
That means that no matter how frightened they are, they don't bite, and they don't run away.
Their response to danger is to curl up into a protective ball, and wait until the danger passes.
That's why so many get run over by approaching cars. That's why so many are maimed and killed by approaching strimmers.
And that's why so many get burned alive in bonfires.
Poking a stick under the bonfire pile will just make the hedgehog inside curl into a ball.
Even if you touch her and hurt her, she won't move or make a sound.
Lighting it from one side will just make the hedgehog curl even tighter.
As the smoke fills her lungs and her coat begins to singe, she will freeze in place and wait for the danger to pass.
Shining a light under the bonfire will just make the hedgehog ball even tighter.
She'll close her eyes so they don't reflect light and give her presence away.
The ONLY way to make a bonfire safe is to build it the same day you light it.
So if it's already built, you need to move it on the day you light it.
If you are starting to build it in place then you MUST first enclose the area with a hedgehog-proof fence, to ensure no hogs enter.
If you can take the trouble to have a bonfire, then please take the trouble to do it safely.
Please don't make this event be something you'll regret for the rest of your life.
