Today is a day I will never forget. After years of sharing my story and advocating on Capitol Hill, the Stop Institutional Child Abuse Act has officially passed the U.S Congress. This moment is proof that our voices matter, that speaking out can spark change, and that no child should ever endure the horrors of abuse in silence. I did this for the younger version of myself and the youth who were senselessly taken from us by the Troubled Teen Industry. To the countless survivors who shared their stories, to the families who stood with us, and to the coalition, thank you from the bottom of my heart for standing with me. Tonight I joined @kaitlancollins on @CNN to share why I dropped everything to come to Capitol Hill and urge the House to pass the #StopInstitutionalChildAbuseAct. This bill will protect children from the same physical, emotional, and sexual abuse I endured as a teen in a residential treatment facility.

I brought my son Phoenix with me—because this fight is about creating a safer world for him and for every child. 💔

The Senate has already passed this bill unanimously. Now it’s time for the House to act. Too many children’s lives are at stake.
