@ouranometrian2@RizomaSchool one of the best stories in cycling I have is re: a friend’s dad riding a single-speed at 60, no cleats, in shorts and a T-shirt, beating young riders in $20,000 of gear.
it reminded me of the quote: don’t buy upgrades, ride upgrades.
@gbrl_dick we started w/a single rabbit. this rabbit is still #1.
then we had to add 3 others and so it became 4 rabbits - "the girls" - that I had to kiss every night before she'd sleep. "dad, kiss the girls!"
now we have the girls, a zebra, a sheep and a lion. occasionally a guinea pig.
@ry_serene yus! and, i think the point of your original tweet is that one-shotting a model might feel like work and learning but it's as empty as thinking like you learned something binging a youtube doco on a formal subject > a reality tv show
@ry_serene albert borgmann 'focal activities' to a tee...tech should make you closer to the real activity. i.e devices that are transparent to reality.
the best technology increases your contact with the world while decreasing your preoccupation with the technology
✍️ Playing with programmable highlighters, e.g.
* green highlight on a citation -> finds and prints the cited paper
* orange highlight on a claim -> prints a skeptical fact-check
Extends naturally to "if I write a comment like 'Is there more recent work?' and circle it in purple, send the comment with surrounding context to an agent"
