For the first time in 50+ years, humans are flying beyond low Earth orbit.
@NASAArtemis II is heading to the Moon at ~25,000 mph and coming home. It sounds simple. It’s anything but.
NASA’s budget: ~4% (Apollo) → ~0.3% today. Much of the old lunar infrastructure is gone.
And yet—we’re going back.
This time is different. Reusable rockets, AI, and modern tech are making space scalable.
Apollo proved we could go.
Artemis is about staying.
This mission unlocks what’s next: lunar return, Gateway, and a sustained presence on the path to Mars.

Today, humanity returned to the Moon.
@NASAArtemis II lifted off from Kennedy Space Center this evening — the first crewed lunar mission in 53 years. Astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Canada’s Jeremy Hansen are on a 10-day journey around the far side of the Moon, traveling 252,000 miles from Earth — farther than any human has ever been.
Victor Glover becomes the first person of color, Christina Koch the first woman, and Jeremy Hansen the first non-American to reach deep space.
This one is personal. My career started at NASA JPL, building autonomy layer systems for spacecraft missions. That same technology is now the backbone of what we’re building at OpalAI — protecting communities from wildfires, optimizing critical infrastructure, and deploying physical AI where it matters most.
